whats the longest it's taken your cannabis seeds to germinate?

i contacted attitude seeds, they dont like hearing that the seeds were germinated but they were happy to help. theyre in contact with the suppliers to see about replacements. i imagine that something happened to them between them and me in shipping. maybe got scorching hot in transit? yea ive never had such a problem other than trying to pop 6 year old seeds from attitude last year. none of those germinated.

this mess still hasnt germinated either...i put them in solo cups of dirt and reconfigured the "incubation" a few days ago when we were sharing methods. soil is moist and not wet or dryCIMG2761.JPG CIMG2762.JPG

I've never gotten good results after 5 days. You can try to pull one out and see if it's black, and I bet they are crack it the inside is probably healthy looking, but it's not likely to grow few to disease or fungus or rot or any number of issues. This is just a guess, but I've had problems with seeds and after 6/7 days it's time to open one up and check. Maybe a humidity dome would help hold in heat with that light underneath. I think cold was a problem for me too so I try and keep the temps under the dome in the mid 80s as soon as they break the soil I put a gap under the dome for a little more ventilation, a couple of days later remove the dome. This works for me.

good recommendation Bb. Fortunately (im about to sound like an attitude promotion) Attitude has sent me a new packet of seeds that has shipped today! So ill give it another go. for sake of better success ill put them on a warm pad and a damp paper towel this time. ill keep the soil blocks in the vegetable garden during winter. i just dont think the radiating heat can really permeate into them since theyre so dense. come late spring and summer theyre really great to plant in outdoors in the shade. im new to indoor gardening this year so im relearning XP

So, I'm a noob. I've only bought seedsman seeds. I've started 5, then 9 more, and passed 6 onto my buddies. 20 seeds. 20 sprouts. 100% germ rate!
ofcourse you got 100% germination from seedsman seeds, there the best I have come across in my 21yrs of growing

Is it OK to put an incandescent light bulb over the soil just for heat while your waiting for the germinated seed to pop out? Ive been searching for an answer to this all morning. I'm at work now and afraid I screwed up by doing it. I loosely laid a ziploc bag over the cup so the bulb wouldn't dry out the soil too much.

I think you did ok but I've put mine under for the same reason, the heat is good, the light not so much. I've actually used a baking dish, the metal kind put the light underneath and the seed tray on top. You should be ok don't sweat it bro.

If they won't germinate in a wet paper towel in a ziploc stuffed in your sock drawer nothing short of a miracle is going to get your seeds to pop.

I really think the lot of you over complicate the germination process. Either stick a half inch in the dirt with a shot glass of water to moisten or put them in a damp paper towel in a ziploc. Both these ways have a huge rate of success, I haven't measured but I would easily guess 95% of the time I get my seeds to pop within two to three days. My last germination I did two weeks ago.

Dinafem OG Kush and Afghani Regular in a damp paper towel in a ziploc, had roots poking out within 24 hours.

I'm sorry I missed the sock drawer part, maybe that's where the cheese smell comes from lol

I went ahead and came home to check on em. This is what I found. I stopped at hd and bought a 60 w cfl and made the dome setup sitting on a heating pad. Got a couple seeds that are trying to pop under the Pyrex lid. Thanks Bro!

That should be good, if you had a temperature reading of the inside of the dome, you could know for sure if it is warm enough, if its not then switch back to the incandescent light.
Also a side note if your interested, I use led bulbs from wallyworld and cut the defuser off, I use one 3000 and one 5000 , for seedlings. And then I move them over to the flower area for side lightning.

Hth Pm me if you want to no smart ass remakes here lol.

yea i deffinitely over complicated mine. tbh i havent popped a cannabis seed in a year so i kinda forgot what i was doing. AND last time i used blocks with cannabis i sprouted them in a paper towel, then transplanted to a block. smh. paper towel and then right into the soil next time.

lol the 8.5w bulbs? good idea. i tried those for warmth and it all got trapped on the bulb so any air passing by would just wipe it away and not much radiated onto the soil.
