am designing the light set up for an 8’ x 7’ room w/ 8’ ceilings for a flower room which will be on a weekly crop rotation (9-10 week cycle for each plant). I will have a 24000 BTU AC and access to as much power as necessary because the room is directly next to the breaker box. Room can be wired to specification.

Room will enclosed w/ CO2. Id prefer to keep ballasts out of the room. Idea is to maximize the space with as much light as possible for yield. Will be growing in organic soil roughly one plant per sqft. Budget is not a concern if it improves yield. It seems LED's have come along way, if I was gonna go with quantum boards or COBs, how many watts would work in that space? Also I would appreciate any link for where to buy or even DIY stuff (I am quite handy). Thanks in advance.!!

So the room is 8'x7', but what size is the the space in which you'll be growing?

With good efficient LEDs like Samsung LM561C based boards and strips, figure 30-35W per square foot. For a 8x7 room that's right at 2kW. 20 of the 4 foot (44") Samsung double row strips at 100W each gets you to 35W per sq ft.. Source the strips from Digikey.

I think I am going to expand the room to 8x8, so 30-35 W a square foot I what I should be aiming at? I am looking at the builds on LEDgardener. So what temperature/color advice can be offered? Should I go with all 3000k lights or a mix of 2700k and maybe like 4000?

Thanks in advance!!!

Im going with 3500 as a good middle of the road color

Up to you:)

Go ahead look up the thread i posted in their strip forum
Its all set for a 8x8 basically you will need 16 4ft f series doulbe diode lights.

And 4 hlg 480 drivers

Plus frame materials wire ect

Basically you can copy the 4x4 build and multiply it x 4

Hope this helps

i'm running 16 - 50 watt 44" f-series strips inside a 4x4 tent for 50w per sq ft. 4 weeks into flowering now for the first time
