In round numbers, what is the ratio of ruderalis to photo genetics in most over the counter autos? It's not 50/50 is it?
i really don't know that answer. i would think not or that would reduce the potency tremendously. i have to think todays autos carry that trait, but still produce a large amount of THC as you mentioned earlier. and that tells me there is just enough ruderalis in there to make it auto. don't know percentages however

I guess they just keep crossing to photos as long as they can keep the auto trait.

well would i would like to try is as mentioned earlier. maybe cross my ghost train female with a little studly ruderalis (Rudy). and then follow the process of crossing F1's, F2's, etc... all while selecting the most potent plants that show auto traits.

my sour diesel female would also be a good candidate for this project.

got so many i am growing out now, there will be other potent female candidates too...

Sounds like a good plan.

nope, these plants were all from seed.

and yep, we are playing who's your Daddy? :bigjoint:
I like it. I made some myself. But it was the patch of SV2's that had 3 females and 2 males. That was the patch I thought the law had found and chopped, so I didn't check on them until much later. The plants were all dead or dying, but I did harvest the seeds.

Ohhh man thats some full pollen sacks over there ...looks like some girl is getting goooo'ed....haha

Hope your fem seed production works out fine Bro!

Just thought I throw in my two Cents on that small lady over there.....
when it comes to breeding seriously for quality I learned there is a hard rule you always should follow, because not following that rule means to most propably ruin the outcome of your work from the beginning.
The rule is:
Keep the Best, toss the Rest!

Only use the best Plants possible for your goal, everything else is a waste of time and power.
Selection is all the Game!
If its not top it jumps over the blade.
Makes space for new opportunities.

Ok if she is ultra resinious and or tasting like heaven or if you breed for small size thus are legit points to decide her as the best mating for that gang of boys.

Btw. that automatic gen is a recessive gen.
That means it needs a auto gen in each parent to make the next generation auto. Thats not a selection process. F1 of photo x auto is a photo plant with a slightly earlier flowering start outdoors for example. Wich is very intresting in northern climates. The F2 will be auto.

So you can see when creating a new automatic strain, there is a "right" way to do it and a fast way to do it.

I put two automatic fem strains into starter soil today.... purple kush and jack herrer. I try to produce some fem seeds from the two.
Purple jack herrer auto fem.
But I am not experienced in making fems so its kind of a training.

Peace

agree with you on breeding the best of the best, unless you only had 3 seeds in that strain. there were supposed to be FEMS, got 2 males, lol. didn't pay much for them, but still... so with all seeds popped, i am gonna reproduce them before i just throw the strain away without trying it. they don't look or smell like quality, but i will find out before i toss them.

on the auto's, i agree. i will be to F3's before all the seeds are autos !!!!

So are you thinking you'd breed a photo auto, then back cross to the auto a few times? I've never done autos, but I'm getting a few Blimburn AK autos for free that I could cross.

my plan is to breed a female photo to a male auto. then breed the F1's. the F1's will contain no autos(this is my understanding). Then select the best plants from the F2's that show the auto trait and breed them. the F3's should be full autos.

You might appreciate this, I've got a RedEyed Genetics Emerald City Cookies solo cup, impregnated by RedEyed Genetics Blueberry Iced Cream.

After pollenation I heavily misted and dried, in a cycle of 3 times, and I put it in Bloom. The splooge was strong and caused localized pollenation of my big ole God's AK-47. Could be a good combo and some bud will be seedless and good.

well the GG#1 is just becoming more and more disappointing all the time. the males, loaded with balls, but not really dumping any visible pollen.

the other night, i shook a branch and saw some. tonight, not even that. nothing dropping on the male leaves or the black construction paper. except male flowers with not much happening.

they are 4.5 weeks into flowering. if i had something else to throw in that tent these GG1's would be gone, at least the males. gonna give them another week, before i cull the males anyway.

Got some GG#4 S1 seeds germinating and one that popped so far.

That sucks. I had a male Blueberry X Shark Shock like that. I did natural pollination on a Blue Shiva X Blue Shark and got zero seeds. Also dusted a Big & Stinky X CP1 and got 4 seeds. Now I'm uncertain if the BS X CP1 seeds are really from the BBXSS or if those seeds are the result of me not washing my hands good enough after working with another male.
