Cooking with dog it's not what you think
The husband narrates as their poodle Francis it's way to funny
Ive watched almost every one of those videos. I love how almost everything has dashi stock in it.

I went through a phase of watching a crazy Japanese game show where they built the most ridiculous heath Robinson machines that after 15 mins cracked an egg on ramen and poured boiling water on top in a bowl.

One you don't call it gravy it's succo or sauce haha

Tips well if you leave it on to long on the stove you can stick a whole carrot in there it naturally sweetens the sauce
Some people put sugar in their sauce though
I think that's weird and not how my nonna used to make hers
If you can use real canned tomatoes from a garden it's better

jeez I thought it was ragu haha

thanks Sunni I generally fine slice chorizo into mine while I sweat onions.
my nonna when she did use meat it was meatballs
but when she didnt make the balls she would not put meat into the sauce

i think its def regional though my grandparents were not the richest folk before leaving italy and it was during depression/war time so they often didnt eat meat products

how i make my sauce (when all variables are preferable is)
olive oil, sweat the onions and garlic (about 4 cloves)
add tomato paste once all is translucent and caramelize the pan a bit

add jarred or canned garden tomatoes
and some jarred or canned crushed tomatoes

depending on how thick or chunky the tomatoes are once i reduce the sauce for a few hours i will immersion blend it a little
i like a bit of a chunkier sauce so to speak i dont like huge chunks but i dont like completely smooth either
i also add fresh garden basil, dried hot pepper flakes
i bring to a boil and than reduce to low and let simmer for 6-9 hours , if i go past 6 hours i stick a carrot in it
i let simmer to reduce any too water like in the sauce
add salt and pepper to taste as you go along throughout the day

and than add some rough fresh basil at the end

sounds awesome actually. The chilli flakes will add a lively twang to things.

unless they're tomato's I've grown I have to put them next to bananas to ripen quicker or they go off before they go ripe. Drives you mad.
