Whats a good brand of nutes?

Hi everyone... Seems like there's a lot of different brands of nutrients to choose from out there. I'm a beginner and I don't wanna hurt my plants. Is there some entry level nutrients that are recommended that i should start with? Also people always seem to say only give half of what the bottle says... Why?

Man, you're gonna get so many answers your head is gonna explode.
As far as why half strength, it's all they need and you save $.
My personal choice is Iguana Juice Bloom. I don't even bother with Grow.
I grow in soil.

I recommend using a well-known 3-part such as Fox Farm or General Hydroponics and follow the label directions, and learn to only feed when your plant is thirsty (by observing the plants weight), some cal-mag is it good idea too

I've also used General Organics and Roots.
They all work.

How do you know if your plant needs cal-mag or not?

I almost always add one mg per gallon to everything I mix, kind of a preventative measure

I've been hearing about general organics a lot. maybe i will give that a go.

General Hydro is great for noobs. Their 3-part is easy. You can also try 2-part (Lucas Formula) which is very simple.

Other brands include, Sensi, Advanced Nutrients, Fox Farm, Remo Nutrients.

Imo. all brands are more or less the same. (Marketing!) Do some research on each and see how others are using them online. See what is available around you. Pick something that you find is priced reasonably.

You really only need a good three part. Don't be "Sold" on buying a whole bunch of other stuff you don't "really" need. Once you dial in your basics, then you can play with additives and other fun nutrients if you so choose!

Ps. Organics are harder to work with than synthetics, but it does depend on your medium as well. (ie. a correctly ammended-organic-soil-mix would probably be super easy to use. But organics in hydro are trickier.)

Alright thanks man. That makes a bunch of sense. I think Advanced nutrients might be good to start with. I've been hearing good stuff about it.

I liked general hydroponics flora series when I started then switched to cyco nutrients and love it

Beastie and Open Sesame are " bloom " supplements and are not designed to be a complete feed. They " help " under certain circumstances , but you need a main nute.

MEGACROP is probably the simplest as being a ONE NUTE for growth and flower.

GH has some good 2-3 part feeds . I use MAXIGRO and MAXIBLOOM.
( MaxiBloom actually can be used by itself with great results. ) They are available in powder form ( which has a better shelf life ) because some nute lines eventually separate in bottle and become pretty much worthless. ( hard bits at bottom ).

I really like Dr. Earth ... Very very easy to use . Liquid Solution ( 3/3/3 ) grows beautifully , then grab FLOWER GIRL for flower or Use MaxiBloom ... That's it. The ingredient list is superior to other high dollar brands ! But you must have it at PH 6.5 always.





I get at Home Depot ... Plus their website has all kinds of other products for when you get some more experience. All at a reasonable cost.

Not much difference between a 3-3-3 and a 2-3-4 or a 2-4-4.
You could end up doing more harm than good with a bunch of different shit on your first grow.
Keep it simple.
Just remember if you are using coco, or soil with coco in it, you need some CalMag.
