What will give more yield? 2x600 hps, or 1x1000?

Alot of arguing about this.
50w/sq.ft=best yeild
Thus a 1kw is perfect for a 5x4 tray but will work for as much as 5x5 or 6x4.
600w is perfect for a 3x4 area but will work well for a 4x4 tray.
On a light rail you have to figure another formula.......par watts/hour or something like that (Al has mentioned it in his threads in the past) He is not a big fan of rails. I use rails with my 1kw lights but I do not make it travel the length of the rail just the center few feet to offer a bit more light on the ends of my trays as well as casting light via different angles to the very bottom of my clones in flower.
The true test of a grow is yeild....what you are shooting for, and what is reasonable from a well run op is 1 gram per watt. That being said i believe with 1200 stationary watts I would yeild around three pounds (1350+,- g) if I harvested a SoG from under both lights at once-or 1/4 of that harvest every 2 weeks. With my 1000 watt lights on movers I am getting about the same-1.25-1.33grams per watt.
So ultimately it comes down to the fact that 1200 watts (2 lights) should always yeild more than 1000 because harvests are based on grams per watt. Mo watts mo weight. Just don't exceed 50w/sq.ft or you will be wasting electricity.

this topic has been and will be debated and heatedly argued by proponants from both sides of the fence. as both sides will most certainly be passionate about there beliefs.
my beleif is i love my 1000 watt light itsthe best thing since sliced bread and it gets me the densest buds known to man. keep in mind my grow space is 40" x 40" square and 80" high
that being said ifi hada 4' x 4' or even a 5' x 5' i would go with 1 1000watt if however i had 2 3' x 3' or a 3' x 5' or something of such i would go with the 2 600s more wattage and more coverage and as for penetration ... sure a 1000watt will penetrate deeper at dead center but what about the outside edge of the 5' length of a longer table the penetration out there will be near zero with the single light. but have excellent penetration if you have a second light out there to cover.
so as long winded as i am it all depends on the size and shape of your grow.
or do what i would do .. your 2 600s would cost 578.00 at htg and your 2 1000s would cost you a whopping 12 dollars a piece more. sure sure it costs more in electricity to run but the buds you produce would be well worth it.
so forget the aguement about 1 1000 VS. 2 600s and go with 2 1000s

No there was four trays under the 600's and only 2 for the 1000's
