i can do it for free outdoors and very cheaply indoors
put your money where your mouth is. show me how cheap you can grow indoors. we'll exchange pics and compare the quality of our buds.

as far as growing for free outdoors, let's review:

land costs money. if you know of someone giving away land for free, let me know.

so, in order to grow outdoors legally, you have to pay rent (a utility). thus, NOT FREE.

i suppose you could grow your weed on land you don't own and don't register with the DHS as a grow site, but that would be ILLEGAL.

kinda funny how i am the one stretching the constraints of legality while you advocate doing things the fully illegal way.

i must be talking to a felon, i suppose.

ha, yeah. i am a bit too passionate about this.

but why shouldn't i be?

is anything in life free? should your weed be free?

am i such a villain for accepting reasonable donations for the excess cannabis i produce?

average grow cycle goes like this: harvest 10 or so ounces. set aside 2 ounces for me, 2 ounces for my wife.

6 ounces leftover. i put a classified up saying i have extra. i do not set a price.

people call me and offer money for my extra. this money helps cover the cost of supplies and utilities i used in growing my cannabis.

i give them 110% or more of the weight they were expecting. they got a better deal than they could have anywhere else on the market, i covered my costs.

i usually get a sob story or two. these people get FREE weed as a mitzvah back to the community.

i have only once regretted doing this, as the person who i met to give free weed to was getting back from a hunting trip with her 3 buddies, all of whom were stocking up on alcohol and tobacco, in a brand new extended cab pickup, with thousands of dollars worth of hunting equipment and clothing on. they were not thankful at all, unlike every other patient i have given free weed to. they were just weed mooches.

FUCK them.

and FUCK anyone else who thinks weed is so cheap to produce or should be free. go fucking grow it yourself and tell me how free it was.

do you grow these plants in a rent free cardboard box? outdoors in the oregon winter without heat?

you are leaving out only about 90% of the expenses it takes.
man you act like you have to buy this shit every grow.. wake up and smell the coffee bro.. hell i didn't know i have to pay for every thing.

why don't you show me yours and i'll show you mine (after i stop laughing at your shit).

aren't you the same guy who thinks his plants will suffer if you don't use soap on your indoor grow?:-P

edit - i just took a look at your thread, the same one that i get booted from when i point out how shitty your grow is because you run to the mods crying like a little sissy). somehow, mocking your shitty grow is not ok, but calling someone a retard is. reconcile that, you blithering fucktard.

you planted your seeds over 3.5 months ago and just recently harvested 2.8 grams? congratulations, you officially fail at life.

if i grew twigs like you, i would kick my own ass.

plus, you are using six 23 watt lights (6x23=138 watts). that is 1 kwh every 7.25 hours, or 1.655 kwh per 12 hours of lights on. over 100 days, that means you used over 165 kwh to get your 2.8 grams, which at $0.10 per kwh means you spent $5.91 per gram of bud. you could have gotten a better deal donating to me!

too bad you are not a patient, which makes me wonder why the fuck you even came to this thread besides to stalk me. did i get your goat?

plus. last time i checked they did not give away those light bulbs for free, nor do they give away miracle gro for free. i bet the stool and books you stack your pathetic little attempt at growing upon were not free either. and i also bet that your mommy and daddy do not pay $0 for your domicile that your plants occupy. ditto the heat.

ha, you are a joke.

As long as you are selling a cheap product and the price is really just to cover the price of growing, I see nothing wrong with it. Only the greedy people are giving medical marijuana a bad name.
Actually, as long as it is to other MMJ patients, then it should hold up in court, as long as the donation is not too large. That is the grey area, they say we can recoup expenses besides labor, but they do not say how we can do that, or how much to take for donations.
more of my thoughts on the issue...

i agree the donation should not be large. i would say it should be SMALL, way below black prices no matter the locale (black market goes for about $10 per gram in portland, $250 an ounce or so).

my average donation offered to me willingly by patients is about $5 a gram and about $150 an ounce (i've never donated more than 1/2 an ounce though).

it has to be reasonable reimbursement.

so let's say you're a patient that wants 3 ounces per month...that is 6 ounces every two months...an ounce per plant on a 6 plant grow...two months worth of electric and ventilation alone costs $65, and to keep heat on during the winter costs another $75 a month or more (i can walk around in sweaters and blankets and i don't care, but my plants do). let's say i rent my house/apt for $800 a month and the grow takes up 10% of my space...add on another $80 per month in rent costs.

ignore ALL other costs.

using the estimate above, ($65 electric x 2 months) + ($75 heat x 2 months) + ($80 rent x 2 months) = $440 every two months. $73+ dollars per ounce.

when you add in all the other costs for supplies (like soil, perlite, nutrients, depreciation on fans, lights, etc, ) and utilities (like water bills, as well as aforementioned rent, heat, and electric), it gets WELL above $75 per ounce.

not to mention that ready-flower-plants are not free. you have to grow them yourself OR donate for them on the gray market. so throw in the cost of vegetation, cloning, seeding, etc. more lights, more fans, more electric, more water, greater portion of rent, etc.

luckily for most patients in my area, they only have to foot the aforementioned costs. if all my fellow growers like me did not have empathy, they would be donating for the fact that we made the initial investment in building the grow space....which can get costly. i bet those greedy, free-weed-wanting mooches would sing a different tune if we told them to reimburse us for the many hours of labor that goes into growing their medicine (not to mention the hours and hours spent building a grow space to do so).

my labor and expertise used to go for $20 an hour with full benefits and a 6% match on 401k, now i get a mere $10.50 an hour. i spend , on average, 1 - 2 hours a night tending to an ommp grow. let's say it's only 20 minutes day...that is 2.333 hours per week....that is 21 hours every two months, that is an extra $210 per 6 ounces....bump it up from $73 per ounce to $108 per ounce IF you include just a fraction of the labor costs...which we don't.

i'd like to know who your black market dealer is. before i got legal, i would pay around $40-50 for an eigth, $140 for a half ounce the one time i bought that much.

same experience for most anybody i know and even the slightest market research will bear it out. just check webehigh.com and you can verify yourself that you are not speaking for the overwhelming majority of oregonians.

If you are "legal" it makes the illegal actions a lot easier... get it?
i don't know why you put quotes around legal, since my card grants me actual legal status in the state of oregon, not fake legal status.

and what illegal actions have i enumerated? i have even posted the law itself stating that i am allowed to accept donations that go to reimburse the cost of supplies and utilities.

and why has no one tried to refute my previous posts that clearly detail how an indoor grow will inevitably cost more than $75 per ounce in supplies and utilities alone?

I thought it was strictly the specific patient who reimburses, not other patients, and the excess is the patients, of his six plants, I believe. Not the growers.. And there wouldn't be multipatient grows to be took advantage of if it weren't for the patients, the intent of the law originally was for the personal grower for himself, that's why the new laws, like AZ, 2.5 oz possession , and can't grow within 25 miles of state dispensary, nice eh?,oh but they got mmj, yea, but.................JMHO

From what a couple of these guys are saying on here, it sounds like they are getting good deals, so WHERE'S the problem for you guys? What exactly are you bitching about if you already PAY for weed, and get good deals? Sounds to me like your black market weed is not doing it for you, and you want more choices, but want to bitch about the very people that give you more choices. WOW.

I think growers can take donations as much as they want, just as long as the total amount they took in was equal or less than what they spent over the year in expenses. I do not necessarily work like that, but I do believe that is legal under the letter of the law. Morally and ethically sound also.
