It depends on your grow specs, give some specs of room size, # plants, etc.
The amount of lumens will be important for the size of your space (# plants)
and the kelvin temps are for the different stages of veg n flower. The largest
lumen output isnt always better with cfl's though, due to their penetration power.
Smaller lights but more ensure that all of the plant gets light.

Okay Ima Try About 7 Plants Dont Know About The Wattage Of The CFl Or The Lumens But I Was Lookn At A CFL With A 105 Watts and 8000 Lumens I Was Goin To Get About 4 or 8 MAybe Mo Depends But That Many At The Max What Yall Think. Or Sum 42 Watt With 5500 Lumens But I Was Goin To Blend Warm With Cool. And I Was Goin To Hang Em About 4-7 inches From The Tops

All ya gotta know about CFLs is:
Blue-(Daylight)-6500K---Use for veggy
Red-(WarmWhite/SoftWhite)-2700-3000k---Use for flowering

Also, in my opinion it can be alot more effective to use a bunch of 27w instead of say... Enviorlites(150-200w)

Get those lights right up in the buds! total coverage with lil CFLs You really can get away with whatever number of lights or size for that matter. And CFLs arent very hot.

yeah, i agree, i would rather a bunch of smaller CFL's than a big one... even the big ones have a relatively low light penetration level so you would want to surround your plants with them... really hard to do with one bulb ;)

Ok I Was Wondering About Buyin Lyk 4 Or 4 Or 5 40w 2600 lumen 3000k cfl And/Or Sum 23w 1600 lumen 5000k Full Spectrum Sylvania Cfl Would Dat Work In Both Veg N Flowering Or Jus A Couple Of 65w 6500k Florecent Replacement Light Which Would Wrk Best Or Would I Have To Do Like A Combination Or Mixture Threwout Da Stages Of My Plants Tryna Grow At Least 7 Or 10

I disagree as ::::
a 30w clf has 2000 Lumen intensity (so it cant penetrate the bud deep enough thats why you get reli small buds)
125w Envirolite cfl 12000 Lumen intensity (Envirolites can penetrate bud ok still not great but still with more light it will)
a 400w hps has around 55000 Lumen intensity (hps will penetrate bud great up to 10 ft away)

So i would say have a couple of the big 125watters & sum 42watters:peace::peace:

but the ones in the uk are 12000 lumens but im not sure alot the ones in the usa but ..the more you pay the more lumens you get alot of the time.

I Looked At This Site They Had Sum 125w 6400k 12,000 lumen ones For $50.00 But My Ques Is How Many Of These For My Veg Stage And The 2700k Same Price Same Lumen Amount For My Flowering Stage Would I Need For Like 10 Plants? I Was Goin To Use The 6400k One Only And My Veg Cycle Then When Flowering Come I Was Goin To Use The 2700k One Is That Cool.

Ight I Ben Lookin Around For Different Envirolites And I Cam Across These I Was Think About Getting Two Of The Reflector And Two 150w about 10,000,11,000 lumen Full Spectrum (6400k and 2700k) CFls So That would Be About 20,000,22,000 Lumens All Together. But My ? Is Would This Grow A Good Garden About 4-6 Plants From Veg To Harvest In A Small Closet Dont No Dimensions Yet Havent Really Set Up The New Room All The Way Up. Heres Pics Of The 150w Full Spec Cfl And Reflector

no lumens dont add up like that ...
11000 lumens (2 bulbs) = 11000 x 2 the coverage

so 11000 lumen intentisty with 2 times the coverage with same lumen intentisty

not 22000 lumens

Never Lookd AT It That Way But Still My ? Wasnt Answerd Can't I Grow A Good Garden(4-6 Plants) With Good Bud And A Good Yield( At Least 28 Grams Or More) From 2 Of Them Bulbs And Reflectors.

WTF work it out lol
a cfl can only be one lumen intentisty which is 12000 so having 2 will not give me 24000 lumens coz the bulbs are the same lumen intentisty But will give me (12000 times x 2 of the coverage.)

I'm growing 7 plants under CFL's and 4ft tubes. I have over 850 actual cfl watts shining at them. They are doing pretty good. For 6 plants I would want 4 of those 125's and then some more smaller cfls too. It also depends on the size of the plants you want to grow. Short bushy plants are better to grow with CFL's because its easier to keep good light proximity which is basically what its all about with CFL's.
I'm on my 1st grow but I'm a quick study. And i have 6 plants going which is what you're asking about.
My 6 are getting:
8 4ft 40 watt tubes (on the sides)
2 42 watt cfls
17 24 watt cfls
2 30 watt tubes
The good thing is with cfls they are small and cheap and you can always add more as you go. I started with 10 plants and 4 40 watt tubes.
Hope this helps, check my gallery lots of pics of my setup along the way....
Good Luck Happy growing
