What kind of flooring?

Cork tiles being light weight, having a R value of 2.7, (insulation and sound qualities) a wide variety of clay pigmentations for colouring, being biodegradable, having low V.O.C’s and anti fire retardant properties, being very durable, quick and easy to install, very low maintenance – what more would you need out of a finish product to protect your family’s and loved ones health ! :)

I have used a hunk of vinyl flooring for the last few months. I had it, so I used it. Previously it was used as flooring in some puppy kennels and later as a roof on same. So I already knew it cleaned up well. Currently, it is on top of cement. Its been great. Lies flat. Sweeps and cleans easily in place while the whole thing can be rolled up and cleaned elsewhere (I pressure washed it before laying it down). Over and above these merits, the price will be at a level where it might be worth an experiment. I actually went down to a big-box hardware store to see about a remnant piece and as I was searching through the remnants I saw that new stuff was on sale making it cheaper than most the remnant pieces I was looking at...picked out a nice rock floor rendition and now its 3 years old and still looking pretty new when cleaned.

sometimes I see flooring contractors lay cork underlay underneath vinyl flooring. Deadens sound, more comfortable to walk on, helps stop the cold from the concrete migrate into the room and when you drop stuff - a bigger chance it won't smash, just bounce.
