If you top the plant you are removing the main cola, which would be the biggest cola of your plant. Under that cut, two or more branches will grow where the fan leaves meet the stem, to produce more colas. Wheather you remove the main cola or not, I dont believe there is an advantage in higher yield as those branches will produce colas anyway.
People top or fim their plant because of height restrictions.
Also, you put your plant under stress by topping, which wouldn't be a good idea with feminized plant (they have already been stress to produce female pollen), there would be a good chance your plant will turn hermaphrodite (hermie).
LST would be the best way to keep a feminized plant low without giving her too much stress.
