What is a good organic nute line for begining DWC?

Wish I would have tried my system up their, Florida is full of sell serving people that only care about their own selfish interests...my only failure was getting the help I needed! Did everything myself from the build to harvest to sale with 8k plants....

I keep hearing organics and hydro dont mix well. But I am a total newb at hydro, just setting up. Organic base nutrients have worked great for me in soil.

I have 2 rainwater containers that had brine shrimp and had some small fast moving creature that sits underwater on the sidewalls. I think the brine came from crab shells and I have no idea where the other came from. I've changed water and started over. I had to some ferts spill into the water and spoiled the culture. In the future I'll get new tanks and more stones/pumps. Thanks for the input everyone.

If you really want to get into organic dwc your basically going to do one of two things 1) A semi sterile environment where you are controlling the strains of bacteria, or 2) you will have an aquaponic system with live plants and animals providing the bacteria naturally that break down nutes. I believe most people fail at organic dwc because they try to run a sterile environment and it just is near impossible, making way for bad bacteria. It is very rare for a well cycled system to have any disease or pathogens. Look up permaculture! ...don't know much about brine shrimp just make sure they don't eat live plant material...I used to use tiger prawns as these guys eat algae and clean the roots!!! The fast moving creatures sound like stone fly larvae..they are beasts at eating Mosquitos and other water pests!!

They do work well there just isn't a lot of information about it available. Well not for free anyways...you have to wear many hats when your do aquaponics and to many this is a turn off...look up a guy named
Dr. Racousky (sp) "the god father of aquaponics"! He specializes in DWC...he has feeding ratios as well as tank ratios from over 30 years of studies!!!

Something (among many things) I don't understand about the difference between our beloved plant and veggie plants.

I KNOW what happens to a weed plant (got several T shirts) with stagnant nutes ------wilt and death after too long.

On youtube video I watched -----University of Florida set up an outdoor hydro op. Built a 4'x8' frame out of wood---put a liner in it---filled with nutes and fashioned a styrofoam sheet to float in the nutes----drilled hole pattern for net cups and plants.

Just seems to me the nutes will be stagnant. However; I assume these guys know what they're doing? (sorry, can't locate link now)

The nutes are not stagnant! One thing I learned about growing in water is the importance of oxygen! As long as you keep the water circulating you will be ok with narrow tanks...if you use wider tanks you will need additional aeration! My pics above are of 5'x40'x20" and 16'x48'x20" there was basically diffuser hose under each of the 58 4'x8' rafts and a huge blower!!!

Thanks for the reply. In that video I saw, they didn't mention any kind of aeration---maybe I just missed it (damn, wish I could find it).

Hey Buzz, are you saying ALL veggie plants require DO?

No problem it's a very important question...and so far every plant i have found needs oxygen at its roots....and although leaves take in co2 keep the carbon and release oxygen...they too will take in oxygen in the absence of carbon! From what I have read it will slow growth to only 25%

Using Organic in DWC is just a very bad idea.
Invites pests and bacteria.
Organic vs Synthetic is essentially the same except organic uses microbes to break it down so the plant can use it. Synthetic just gives the plant 100% what it needs.
Two lines I recommend.
1. Blue Planet Nutrients.
2. GH Flora Trio.

Tons of misinformation out there.

Been growing food for many years with synthetics and never taste liek it. Same goes for weed. Flushing does nothing other than if you smoke the roots.
A good slow dry and cure is the only way to get good Cannabis with great terpine flavor and smoothness. IF using foliar spray washing the buds would also help.

Go Synthetic or go back to Soil.

Also use 50% of nutes reccomended does. Its always too high at 100.

BPN 50% for sure.

Flora you can use Lucas if you dont have a PPM but I suggest getting one.

Use lucas at lower PPM and work your way up.

Also get a PPM meter or a PPM pen. It will save your from nute burn.
Also dont buy into companies with like 30 products like AN.

general Hydro and Blue Planet and Remo are what i reccomend.
