I’m not sure about yield as it’s basically built the plant through veg outside, yup they get big if allowed lol. So at that point it would be bud development inside, interesting. I would love to see how the plant develops buds under lights versus sun. I do think your right but it would be interesting. I know I would have a bitch of a time bringing my 7’ers in lol.
My thoughts are this.... If a 1000 watt light will yield better then say a 300 watt light.......well no light comes close to the output of the sun. :)

Size for size the indoor plant will consistantly yield more though. Less chance of weather being a factor and ruining the grow, less chance of a ripper and ruining the grow, less chance of mould and ruining the grow. Less chance of having to pull early due to rain and storms coming.
Yes the sun is the best light source but it has wasted spectrums and comes with allot of disadvantages- hence hi tech green houses are the bomb, harnessing the best of both worlds.

The sun is significantly more powerful than HPS and will never cause light burn. That said, your location is important. If you live in the pacific north-west, you will have more clouds than sun.

Your biggest worries should be bringing pests inside if you grow indoors during the off season.

Also, if you plan to plant in the ground then dig it up, that could kill it.

I done it a couple of years ago. .......when outside in the sun the plant develops a FAR better structure. ....node spacing was non existent STACKED on top of each outher EVERYTHING looked perfect (the best plant in veg I've ever seen).......can't remember exactly how long veg was ...around 6 weeks I reckon.....took her in when the power of Sun had diminished enuff for me to say they will get more benefit indoors.....flowered it until it was done (9week)under 600w.........all in all it grew too many nodes and produced middle of the road weed.......I won't be doing this again in the U.K.. ......

We plant outdoors the end of May and Harvest (hopefully) end of September but typically October and plants are very big so pulling a plant in when it starts to flower would be difficult given size. Better to pull it in early while manageable and flower it to get an early crop would be my end game if I did such a thing. But yup ..... bugs :(.

I do this every year...the bug issue that's being brought up is something you'll be monitoring the entire time you're outdoors anyway...if the days are short you'll still have to supliment light though...go for it...g/l
