What fan/filter combo should i get? Difference between orignal can and 38 special?

I want to get an inline fan and carbon filter and hepa filter. I have a 12x6x7 room, what size fan/filter combo and what is a good brand?

Also what is the difference between the 38 special can filter and the original can filter?

Eco- plus fans pull almost the same cfns as vortex for half the price.Ive got away from can fan filters and Ive found mountain air filters to be far better at cleaning up really stinky oders..peace
