:spew:i just harvested 3 bc sweettooth plants early... had to because the lights in my grow room went out for 48 hrs. and they started to lean. there was minimal sugar on the buds but they gave off a wonderful odor during trimming. they had about 2 1/2 wks left in the flowering cycle before harvest so it wasn't too soon. i didn't get to leach the soil so i'm worried about fertilizer taste in the smoke. is there anything i can do to ensure primo buds?? what can i do??! has anyone else done this??:joint::peace:

Cure really well to remove any fertilizer taste. Check into the water techinque.
I hear that works really well for people who didn*t flush prior to harvest.

Does 48hrs dark really wreck it?
I realize 48hrs light would throw it back into veg.
What does 48hrs dark do?
Just too limp to support crop?

Your plants would of been fine man... The loss of light causes them to go limp but 48 hrs would not of hurt them all that much unless they were already under alot of stress before the power outtage. You should of just tied em up as they begin to lean anyway when the colas start to get heavy. Dang now you risk just getting medioker results for all your efforts....... Point in case do not chop your plants untill they are ready to harvest(50%amber) or you are liable to get hay smelling, rather give away than smoke yourself, nasty tasting, weed.....

There's treachery afoot
I too harvested two plants early last week. Trichromes were cloudy and only a few amber. Everything I have read tells me to make sure to cure well. To cure I put in mason jars after hanging for a week for single buds or week to two weeks for full plants. Open the mason jars daily for a few hours to let breathe, close and repeat the next day. I typically do this for about a month and am good to go. With the early harvested, will cure for two months or so to get the best taste. I pulled three early last year as I had a last minute business trip and no one to baby sit. I cured those for three months and my friends are still raving about the 07 widow. Smooth smoke, great "up" high and taste was fantastic. So, don't let the bastards get you down. This is your first grow and bound to have some issues. I see alot of posts of people waiting until the last minute to harvest. This is all fine if your grow will allow and you want to be locked on the couch all night. As a fisherman, my guess is you might want more of a soaring up high to enjoy while out on the water without the drag of late harvested bud. So man, enjoy your harvest, cure it well and don't listen to those giving you bs about your grow. Learn from this grow to make your second even better.
Happy smoking......

LOL, yeah sorry dude i was just busting your balls, I just want ppl to have a good smoke that's all:hump::hump::hump:. If it was 2 weeks away than it'll be fine, just cure as others have mentioned for along time. It will be more of a cerebral, energetic high that you will get, perfect for a night out enjoy. Damn you live on the florida coast, with all that great fishing, I envy you. Apart from all the Cuban exiles of course:mrgreen::blsmoke:

right on!!! i appreciate the comment back!! the cubans aren't all that bad, they have great coffee!! i'm drying the buds now for 4 days. i'm gonna give it about another week before i start the loooooooong curing process! i guess if there is anything i've learned it's this; DON'T QUIT! next time around i'll work with a better, more stable strain, better lighting (the buds are pretty small), and less fishing trips!! lol!

Cool, remember to alternate your drying process by placing the buds in a sealed bag, and then out to dry. A popular cycle goes like this: 24h drying / 24h in bag, than you just repeat the process, some ppl gradualy increase the frequency to 12h dry to 12h in bag towards the end of the drying process. Placing them inside a sealed bag draws the moistiure from within the bud to ensure even drying. If you don't you may find you have bud that's dry on the outside and moist in the middle:cry:. Happy smoking.:hump:
