No, even private companies have to abide by the law. Abiding by the law does not mean someone controls your private business.
What are examples of issues that would legitimately be labeled "States Rights"?

What does the word "private property" mean to you?
Does it mean you (the owner) control it or other people do too?
A law which relies on a contradiction is apropos given that it was mandated by the Federal Government which is in the business of denying individual rights.

Hopefully my state will stop talking and Secede already. The federal government was never meant to be more then An umpire. True authority lies with the state. A state can refuse to follow orders from the federalist. Every state has its own Constitution, many stronger than the US constitution. If things don't change with the federal government I see a second civil war in our lifetime.

I like the direction you are headed in, please consider taking your argument to the logical conclusion.
True authority lies with the free and peaceful individual, not a smaller master (a state) than the previous master (a federation of states).

Don't underestimate the power of an angry heavely armed mob. That's why the 2nd Amendment exist. How can a government fight against armed citizens numbering over a hundred million? And if a state sides with the armed citizens there's gonna be a war.

Unfortunately, critical thinking is not encouraged by the state, and is in short supply, so, maybe what will happen is bloodshed, but that won't create a lasting change.

That's my point, an idea shift is what causes a paradigm shift. Replacing one set of rulers with another is not a substantive change.
I think logic would agree with me and disagree with "the founding fathers". A government cannot protect your freedom if its existence is founded in involuntary inclusion within it. Have you ever read Lysander Spooners essay, "No Treason, Constitution of no Authority" ? He does a good job of explaining why what I said is accurate.
