What am I doing wrong?

OK, so here is my setup:

-106L rubbermaid tub
-50 CFM bathroom fan mounted on top with two passive intakes on bottom, lots of airflow
-two 45watt cool white, two 42 watt warm white, and 6 26watt warm white CFLs, the right distance from the plants
- Some random brand soil that seems to drain very well and has no significant nutrients.

Temps are around 72 lights on, 60 lights off. Humidity is around 35%. Don't know the PH, can i test the runoff ph with a ph strip? would that tell me anything?

Anyway, I had a bunch of bagseed plants growing in a basement under shitty conditions, they got a little stretched and didn't do much, so I transplanted the best 4 from solo cups to 2litre bottles (taped to prevent light from hitting roots), and moved them to my new and improved setup which sounds pretty good to me. I also started 2 super silver haze seedlings.

It's been about 2 weeks since I moved them all, and none of the plants have really showed much growth. The best bagseed plants have added a set of leaves or two, but they're not very big or wide, and the SSH seedlings only have a few sets of tiny leaves.

The only thing I can think I'm lacking is nutes. I've used some miracle grow 8-7-6 all purpose liquid plant food a couple of times. There's no sign of nute burn or anything.

So yeah, basically all I can think of is PH and nutrients, but plants should do just fine for the first few weeks with just soil light and water shouldn't they?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

(I've read the grow faq and a million threads, I just can't seem to get this going right)

1.yes a ph strip will tell you alot
2. mg is your problem.
MJ requires 20-10-12 veg(ed rosenthal)and from what i heard from my hydroponic store guy 2-6-12 for flowering(potass twice the amount of phorous, ed says 5-20-12)
you already know the problem and what you need to do so i really dont know what your asking

8-7-6 is fairly close though, you just quoted two different numbers for flowering so I'm not sure that would explain it.

With ph, can i measure the runoff when i water for an accurate indication of ph? Also, do synthetic nutes like mg tend to bring ph up or down?

:wall:no, 8-7-6 ISNT CLOSE, plants need a lot higher nitrogen during veg and more potassium during flowering...:wall:.. keep using your shitty MG nutes and see what type of weed you grow have fun.
yes you can use the runoff and Mg doesn't make a difference in acidicity
