What am I doing wrong? (Auto Flower)

I planted both of these at the same time and they were growing about the same until about a week ago. Then the one on the right took off, and the one on the left is turning brown and dying. I have no clue why this is, I have been watering them the same and they are in the same soil which is miracle grow potting mix. What could possibly be wrong.
Thanks

BTW, the sand on top is because the first week into growing I had a bug problem, but the sand got rid of them. It is only on top, not mixed in

Just from what I can tell from the photo I would flush the little plant with plain water and check your ph. The soil you are using is not really the best for your babies and you don't really know how that stuff is mixed up, you might have just gotten too much of a good thing in the one pot, but flushing is a safe place to start looking for your cause. Good Luck

I beg to differ on that statement. MG works great on all of my plants. I amend it with MG perlite and worm castings. For those that prefer a purely organic grow MG won't do. If Fox Farms soil was available here, I'd buy it. I live in a city of over a million people and the FF website lists only two retailers in my area that are not even close to me.

MG is hardly the worst soil. If you don't know what you are doing, it can be hard to leech because of time lapsed release, but that only matters if you overfeed your plants, and you wouldn't do that would ya? You can get by without adding supplements for the first 3-4 weeks.

What kind of autoflowers? Both the same strain? I'm assuming your miracle grow potting mix is the stuff that comes with at least a 90 day supply of nutes. MG can be used successfully for regular seeds in the vegetative stage. But autoflowers are generally nute sensitive, so using MG is going to be a gamble. Also, like Serapis indicated, because of the nutes in the MG, flushing is not an option as it will only release more nutes.

If I had to guess, that little plant has nute burn.

Thanks for the replys, yes the soil is the MG with the 90 day nutes. The seeds were both the same, Auto Widow (http://www.marijuana-seeds.nl/auto-widow-feminized.html)

So if you are saying that flushing wont really work, what should I do about the dying plant? Is it going to completely die, or just slowly start growing again when it gets over the nutrient burn?
Thanks alot!

Your 2 main choices are to attempt to transplant it into better soil, or wait it out. How often are you watering? Any chance it is being overwatered?

I would let the soil dry out pretty good before the next watering and see how she does. You can see the center of it is a healthy green.

If you haven't seen this thread about growing autos already, check it out: https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/199319-autoflower-thread-resource-guide.html

Plenty of people willing to help you out there as well. Best of luck to you.

Thanks, I think Ill see if it improves at all over the next 3 of 4 days. And yeah, Im gonna back off on watering as well cause I think I might be slightly over watering it. If not, Ill look into getting some regular non-fertilized potting soil.

Just want to warn you not to try flushing that MG soil, by watering more you cause the MG soil to release lots of nutes causing nute lock up. If your on the west coast go to lowes or home depot and get Kellogs outdoor patio plus potting soil, it is the exact same thing as Fox Farm ocean forest just different bag at 1/3 the price. just do a complete soil replacement on those girls and you'll be good.

you might just try calling a few places near you also... there were no dealers listed anywhere near me andI was taking a trip 2 states away and found somewgere near there so I stopped and bought some, then a week later back home I stopped in at a nursery I dont usually go to and lo and behold, there it was along with all the FF nutes... I told the owner they should make sure they are listed on the FF site

I've been using the FFOF with good results, but would love to use something cheaper. Not exactly the same ingredients, tho.

The ingredients in Kellog "Patio Plus":
composted forest products, canadian peat moss, composted chicken manure, rice hulls, horticultural sand, perlite, bat guano, kelp meal & worm castings

The ingredients in Fox Farms "Ocean Forest":
composted forest humus, sphagnum peat moss, pacific northeast sea-going fish, crab meal, shrimp meal, earthworm castings, vermicultural compost, sandy loam, perlite, fossilized bat guano, granit dust, norwegian kelp meal, oyster shell

Well, I tried to repot a few days ago and both plants finally died yesterday:cuss:
So since I got 5 free seeds with my autoflower order, I planted 3 of those today in some pretty decent indoor growing mixture I got from my local nursery. Ill post some pics in a few days when they start to sprout. Ready to start over after about a month of wasted time :wall:
