what about a proposition for recreational use?

what about recreational marijuana use?

everyone's all strong and supportive about california proposition 215 but it only allows sick people legal access to nicely grown marijuana.

...and i'm not going to fake my way into becoming a canna-card holder just for the easy-access to the buds when it's intention is to serve those of only suffering physically... in my opinion -- doctors shouldn't prescribe it for those suffering mental problems -- or atleast be highly restricted on days they can serve themselves with a very limited amount.

you'd be surprise how many fakes are carrying canna-cards and walking out of the clinics thinking, "thank god that doctor fell for my story."

...i happen to know quite a handful of folks, both MALE & FEMALE from the ages of 23-25 that brag to me constantly about how it's so easy to come up with a story and all that.

it's just wrong and completely defeats the purpose of legitimately pursuing 215 the way it's intended too... and also gives the anti-prop 215 crowd more reason to fight towards having 215 taken away from the real beneficiaries.

there's no "proposition for recreational use" that i'm aware of.

i consider myself a responsible user who's 21+ -- but i smoke it for the "social" / "to get high" purposes that i believe should be legitimate to do in the comfort of my own home... such as others who choose to do the same thing with alcohol and tobacco products.

...you know -- something within' the lines of how Amsterdam distributes it... now THAT'S a professional/tolerable way of handling it.

one day -- i hope... and i also hope i'm still alive when it happens.

Well, WB, guess what? What you said there makes YOU a medical user, and that statement says it all for you. Like Dennis Peron said, "All use is medical."

And who are you to say that any of those braggers are not legitimate medical users? It's a drug, and you are self-medicating with it. It shouldn't matter to anyone else just how you use it, only that you are consulting with your Dr. about your use. The law was made for all of the people just like us.

Summary of HR 5843

An Act to Remove Federal Penalties for the Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults,” sponsored by U.S. Representative Barney Frank (D-Mass.), would eliminate federal penalties for the possession or not-for-profit transfer of small amounts of marijuana. The bill would remove federal penalties at the federal level only: (1) possession of up to 100 grams of marijuana and (2) the not-for-profit transfer of one ounce (28.3 grams) of marijuana. Yea there is a clause in the Prop215

"(A) To ensure that seriously ill Californians have the right to obtain and use marijuana for medical purposes where that medical use is deemed appropriate and has been recommended by a physician who has determined that the person's health would benefit from the use of marijuana in the treatment of cancer, anorexia, AIDS, chronic pain, spasticity, glaucoma, arthritis, migraine, or any other illness for which marijuana provides relief."

The Frank bill didn't pass, he put's it out there pretty regularly and it always gets shot down, but I think there were a few more votes in favor this year...

I think AK has about as close to what you are talking about, in your own home you are allowed up to some smaller amount like an OZ or two... It also let's you grow. The case name is something like Raven vs AK.... It is not so much a law as it was a decision passed down from their Supreme Court on their interpretation of the right to privacy.

HR 5843 and HR 5842 are currently in committee for debate. The Oregon Cannabis Tax Act is going to be put to a vote in 2010. This would allow personal use of marijuana, put it in liquor stores and legalize growth for medical and indistrial use.
