Ty! I'm getting ready to start my first grow and I decided on autos. I've been reading and researching for months. The more I read the more contradicting it gets. I do know some of it's trial n error...anywho, I bought a 1000w dimmable light, germination station with heating pad, rapid rooters and a ph test kit. I plan on germinating in the rapid rooter, can I grow in 5 gallon pots? 80/20 of happy frog n perlite. Not sure on what nutes to buy. big bloom grow big n tiger bloom? I've read not to give nutes until 3rd week and not to put under light until they've broke the soil. I read to do at least 18/6 thru the whole grow. What wattage should I start with and how far away should the light be? how many plants can my light handle? should I paint my walls black? water when top soil is dry?how often to flush....etc, anything i'm missing? any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. ty in advance, msangie

Ok well msangie
-yes you can grow in 5 gallon pots but i would recommend starting your babies in something smaller, if you start in too big of a pot you plant will put most of it focus into producing roots and not as much into foliage.
-Fox farm nutes are good, especially for beginners because of the easy directions. Remember its always easier to fix a nute deficiency than a nute burn so dont go to crazy till you get the feel for them
-I recommend starting your nutes when your cotelydons start to die off, usually around the 3rd week.
- With autos yes you should do 18/6 all the way through you can start your seedlings on a lower wattage and always keep the light above your plants to the point you can stick your hand above the top of the plant and it not be too hot for your hand
-Black paint is non reflective, Mylar is 95%reflective as is flat white paint(about 90%)
- Water you plants when you can stick your finger in the soil and not feell moisture, be careful not to damage roots when doing this.

Ty for your help, seriously. I over think everything. lol. So i'm better off going to a 3 gallon pot after germination? I don't want to have to transplant. Is my 80/20 hf n perlite a good mix? Are white pots ok? Will I need anything else besides nutes n ph kit?
