so trust me people im no novice but this one has got me stumped I picked up some herb from a buddy to try, the weed is great buzz if that's all I ever wanted, butttt I do love my taste, now my buddy when he was drying this outdoor herb, he had it too close to a fire (hole in the pipe to his fireplace heats his home thus drys his herb also), this weed no bullshit taste just like a campfire, and what once was a good tasting and good smelling strain (sour bubble) is now campfire weed, the smell when opened the bag is campfire, the taste is campfire...so the question I have is what can take this away, I know the herb is great cause I tried some when it first was done...but now months later its nothing but a campfire...I cant think of anyway to get rid of this smell and bring back the kind bud smell and taste...hes always trying to give me some and everytime campfire campfire campfire.....any suggestions on how to bring this back to day one? or is it just fucked?

Could maybe put it back inside a jar with trim from 'the' or similar plant?

You are probably stuck with campfire smelling weed. Sprinkle that shit on a hotdog.

Tough break . I've never had any weed that smelled of smoke. I did have some years ago that smelled of diesel fuel but we smoked it anyway .I don't know of a way to remove the campfire smell or taste. There was a cigarette on the market years ago that had a charcoal filter that supposedly improved the taste.

I had some of that as well, but I know that the bud I had gotten was hauled in a gas container. I couldn't smoke it, I tried, just couldn't bare it.
How does one handle inhaling something that is gas like? I used to know someone who would huff and their breath was awful.

What we had didn't taste like diesel it only smelled of diesel it was back when weed was $30.00 an Oz. We just didn't give a shit back then. I certainly wouldn't do it now !

Ah, thanks for clarifying.
Yea, its not one of those things you want lingering on your breath.

Sounds like he needs to find a better place to dry his weed! I can't imagine ever hanging buds next to a fireplace to dry and expecting smooth results.
If he has access to an ozone based air purifier he could try putting the campfire weed in a garbage bag with the ozone generator for an hour or so. Start with a small amount and see if it works.

Its usually do to improper (too short or too long) drying. I had the same issue this past grow. Bud that I've grown quite a few times just turned out pretty bad due to me not being able to be around at the right times to cut/hang/dry/bag/jar at the proper times. Anytime it's dried too fast or too slow it will have a very harsh taste and the smell will be off. Usually if it's dried too slowly it will have a hayish scent. If it's dried too fast it can shrivel up and really feel like smoke killing your lungs. A little too much in either direction can be fixed but it's likely too late now. You will probably just have to deal with crappy weed this time around. He probably had it too close to the fire, or left it for too long (or a combination of both) which resulted in the bad taste/smell. I got the same thing. Got some Pineapple Express that was really nice the past couple grows and I messed up the drying this time around so it's almost unenjoyable to smoke it. Almost. Luckily the high is still about the same. It's just not as enjoyable as the bag smell is poor, and the smoke itself is pretty harsh.
