Weed in France?

Hello there!

I'm gonna study abroad in France (Brest, Bretagne) for about one year and I wanna know about laws and arrests for use and possesion of weed or hashish... Is it ok to smoke? Is it common to be arrested or smth with small quantities?
It would be nice to meet some locals too

well, France is probably the worst country in europe regarding weed/pot : it is for example
forbidden to wear a t-shirt with a weed leaf because it is "poromotion of drug use" !

However, like everywhere a lot of people smoke you'll find a lot of hash ( from Morocco ) but
also weed

You won't (shouldn't) go to jail for possession of small quantities !

They have drug tests for drivers, so if you drive ...

That's good then! Sounds like I'll just need to meet some stoners and I'm gonna be ok. I was worried because I've read that France was just as you said and, as an exchange student, it would be quite a mess being arrested and maybe even warned.

I haven't arrived yet, but when I do, what about a rollitup meeting? haha
