Water pump and drip manifold connection

Can I screw in my water pump into my drip manifold or do I have to put a tubing between the 2?

With the Picture you don't have.... Who Knows? There are HUNDREDS of plumbing connection combinations. Need to see what your working with.

You don't need a picture
The water pump has a male connection and the drip manifold has a female connection. I can twist one into the other, but is it the correct way to do it? Or do I need tubing.

i put a 4" riser on mine just to make it easier to access the hoses/valves on my manifold.

Will your manifold be under water?

Tried it out and it works fine.
The manifold was not completely submerged. The top part where it has holes was not submerged.

I don't know why not. I'm supposing you mix & feed, right away?
