wait for new a51?

So I have one xgs and I need another one asap should I wait for the 2015 model (late December-April 2015) supposed to be earlier than April,or should I get a 2014 model on clearance?

You're in the US so I suggest waiting a couple of weeks for their new warehouse to open. I don't know how much it's going to cost to get a light shipped from Hong Kong, but the option is there if you're truly desperate. It might be worth it to e-mail them for a shipping quote.

If your going to run the lights next to each other over the same grow I would get another XGS,if your using them in separate areas I might wait.

The problem with running lights with different power levels or spectrum's over the same space is the added work of rotating the plants around the space to keep the canopy even.

Yeah I thought about that too ill probably just get a 2015 for the veg room and the other two 2014 for flower or switch it when I get two 2015

No, that's not what I was trying to say. Sorry if it came across that way.

The new warehouse opening in Michigan (in ~2 weeks) means they're going to start selling the remaining stock of their 2014 lights. The 2015 lights are two to five months away. If you need a light right now and cannot wait for Michigan to start shipping, you have to e-mail them to get a light shipped to you from Hong Kong. I was suggesting you wait for the Michigan warehouse to open so you don't have to pay for HK shipping.

So what's all in store for 2015? A RW-300 and RW-500 and XLM/XLM2 lamps? Any idea?

It said 10w cree and osram leds on the site nothing about total wattage or anything

10w Cree XP-L, deep red Osram, both on their own dimmers. 160w draw. Connectable as well, you can make larger units out of smaller units. No lenses, but rather reflectors.

So advanced, ss, and Area 51 sporting osram deep red now. I figured it was better..

But the apache rocks without it..

Almost wonder if led grow biz just ride the popularity train

Gotta respect apache for holding strong with their spectrum

Nothing against 51... good choice for peeps, way better than epiwhat...but the spectrums change so often..

Loving the sound of reflectors , really looking forward to the release I will be in the market for 2 more LEDs soon as my old setup will be back in action and require a lot more watts .

Can't dismiss 660nm with flowering annuals imo......efficient "WW"/DR spec should kill it!..........We don't know how apache is going on their new units==== wondering if it's just a nichia chip update??IDK, maybe GG does?

What new units?

AT is firmly behind 630...I push for 660 all the time. IMO it comes down to the RQE vs morphological effects. AT is on the RQE side and well based. But when getting cannabis specific, who knows if what is really best...yet. SDS's thread(https://www.rollitup.org/t/photosynthesis-under-solid-state-light-setting-the-standards.833449/) supports deeper reds, specially late in flower.

Close to 2015 and no panel updates planned?? I was just guessing it was time...............sorry for the misinformation

There's 2 versions on the way, an all white with a similar spectrum as the 190, and the other will have a similar spectrum as the 150/160, just the red peak moved over from 625nm to 650nm, it's not a huge difference in spectrum. Too much deep red is harmful, not enough doesn't do anything. You only need 100-200 micromoles hitting the center canopy, anything more you're hindering the plant's progress, and anything less, you might as well just keep it all white.

The all white version will be first, there's issues finding a proper power supply for so few Osrams, and they can't share a power supply with the XP-Ls, as they're too powerful, 350mA-2100mA dimmable. I'm sure something will be found soon enough.

As for models, there's just the one, since it's connectable, there's no need for multiple models.

Intensity always trumps spectrum, you can have the most magical secret sauce spectrum in the universe, if there's no intensity, it won't do you any good. This is why you won't see any above average grows using no-name Chinese LEDs. This is why HPS still works great with a less than optimal spectrum, and those 90w UFOs with super extra secret magic sauce spectrums barely finishing grows, they've yet to beat an HPS.

Do I think Chinese no-names will ever be more efficient than HPS?
