a canvasser for the GOP, a chicana woman, just knocked on my door asking me if i would vote for cory gardner.

"why would i want to do that?" i asked

"his economic policies and energy policies" was basically her answer.

"does cory gardner base his energy policies in science?" i asked

"what do you mean?"

"for example, he voted against an amendment that stated that human activities are contributing to climate change earlier this year. do you believe that human activities are contributing to climate change?"

"well, the climate is always changing..."

"i'm aware of this. do you and cory gardner have some secret information that you haven't shared with 34 national academies of science though?"

"well..."

"not only that, but he has already signed a koch brothers pledge on the issue while denying the plain facts and science. he's just a stooge for the koch brothers"

"well the koch brothers have supported democratic AND libertarian causes though!"

"yeah, and their daddy helped found the john birch society. you familiar with them?"

"no"

"then you're probably not familiar with their whole theory that fluoride is a communist plot"

*befuddled look on her face*

"don't take my word for it, go look them up on that phone you're carrying. they also opposed the civil rights act of 1964. they're radical right wing racists, and they probably didn't want your parents to even come here. good luck on your canvassing."

i went back upstairs and checked out the window, and she was already on her phone looking something up.

hope she ends up throwing those flyers in the trash and finding a real job.

Well, 2 games of a best of 5 down, and Samsung White is kicking the crap out of Star Horn Royal Club, 2-0.
There are 40k+ people in the stadium watching this...230k+ watching it online.
I still don't understand it...Apparently when there is a lot of chaos on the screen, one is supposed to cheer.

I suspect it is an @UncleBuck conspiracy...

The world championships in League of Legends have finished.
Samsung White won in 4.
They are nerds...and they call it a "career".

Apparently a lot of money for the winner of the Championship.

I've never played it and I've been known to play a few games ;)

There was some question about that. Someone said they were going to win $1Mn (!!!!).
Then someone else stepped in and corrected the figure: $2Mn !!!!
To top it off, I realized in retrospect, the SHR team had a couple players; one named Zero, and another named Cola. The first one didn't seem too weird, but Cola?
Guess who sponsored the event...

Again, I am fucking amazed. There was a north American team, too, but as noted by the commentators, we suck. Korea cultures these "God teams" as they are referred to.

However, for me, the greater takeaway is this is the future of "labour", making games for gamers so people can watch games. Is it possible to conceive of a world where political disputes are settled on a digitized battlefield? We are heading on a vector of robotic warriors, already, so it seems logical in an evolved world to end up in digital wars in lieu of "boots on the ground". Maybe it would be used as a "tester" to prove "our drone ops are more powerful than your drone ops", etc. mitigating the expense of saber-rattling with Navy and Air Force posturing along borders.
This doesn't mean there will be an end of the military complex, but the purposes and methods will change dramatically...at least in my stoner-dream.

Did you read Ender's Game (or see the movie?)
Okay...I watched it.
Interesting premise underlying it; using kids as commanders and generals, but in the end he saves the species (what cheeeeeez... )
I suppose that answers the question, though, of why such scenarios would manifest. As alluded to in a vid posted in another thread about "divergent genius" and kids, they can come up with some strategies that would baffle Sun Tzu.
They also don't have the moral "wisdom" (and I use that term loosely) of adults, so decisions rooted in the 5 F's are more distilled.
And yet, they must be tricked into thinking it is a game before they can bring forth their "genius".
'Tis a dilemma.

Well, the book was much better.

The main point was the martial art idea of " seeing the love of your opponent as they love themselves. Then exploit the blind spot the hide with self love" Ender's vast empathy was his key to seeing that weakness.

That was the Sun Tsu angle. Know your enemy. But now one could. Ender could see what the Bugs wanted most to protect.

But, you are right. It ain't rocket science. Just destroy that.

Someone else suggested the book is probably better (that film was obviously geared toward neo-pubescents). But it was enough to see the theme of the story...thanks for the recommendation.

Why is that Norwegian director who made the fake video of Syrian war kids, which exposed how useless the MSM is at investigative journalism, getting so much flak from the industry?
I hope he sticks to his guns, and makes more fake vids, to keep exposing how inept the "journalism" industry truly is in this day.
But what is the problem, exactly? The MSM does not know how to ask the right questions.

"Any fool can find answers"

that is how we take the money out politics..candidates get a website to post their platform..they do not need to travel and stump..it's old school and no longer necessary.
