That is what is weird. . After I was told what was happening I did some research and that seems to be the norm... These are pretty much exactly the same size so far. I assume that will change.
as they get bigger one should be much bigger than the other. at least that is my experience

Update... so one of the twins has finally really taken over and the smaller is looking pretty sad. I'm thinking it is time for the little one to go to give her big sister the best chance to thrive. How do I go about getting rid of the little one without harming the big one?

Dude what u did was plant the seed upsidedown! The root is supposad to go down and the seed part up! u should germinate the seed to b certain wich way the root will root into the soil.

It's called research. Something you aren't familiar with takes place. You ask questions, you read books, read articles. I did a lot of research on the twin phenomenon in plants. Not so much in killing one of them.

ok so we know the round eye thing goes 'up' right? that's the cotyledon end, no turn required... or am I high? ....as they say in the seed germ bidness, 'butthole-up'.

I've found planting the seeds sideways works excellent, as the radicle doesn't have far to turn then.
have u ever actually seen a root go straight down?

Ok i used to think what letsget cliteral is talking about where the root is supposed to turn into the soil and the head sticked out but i had some of ur problems where the root would also stick out...or the seed expended so much energy when the root would do the u turn that it would damphen and die. So now i make sure the root goes downward instead of upward. For all u noobs u can tank me laterbongsmilie

In this case the root never grew out of the soil. It was 2 sprouts. As in twins.
