I use fox farm ocean forest. You can get it at a grow shop or online never had any soil problems.

i personally prefer b&q peat free compost(150 litres for £6 or less),some perlite and a little gravel, personally i use about 5 parts compost,2 parts perlite and a half to 1 part gravel, helps get the water through all the medium and makes overwatering (in my opinion 1 of the worse mistakes people make, overwatering) harder to do
but that's just what i use, through trial and error,i'm sure plenty other 'better' mixes will appear here,it's going to be whatever suits you best

i had the problem of everyone saying use fox farms etc, trouble is you don't get it here in uk and have you any idea how much the shipping is on 100 litres of soil?too much to justify it,i tried a couple but was advised on the b&q option and never looked back,i've had a lot of success and no failures in this compost

it's white porous volcanic rock, very light so i mix by volume, not weight,i also use smooth aquatic gravel rather than the sharp stuff
