Vertical HPS grow?

i seen a grow journal before where someone dangled their HPS bulb in the middle of their grow.

is there any difference in that compared to a normal hps setup with reflector?

anyone had any experience?

to me it seems like its only going to cover the same area amount on a plant....

a vertical grow is really good for sativas due to the height of them. i used a vertical on some tall plants i recovered from the outside, that were neglected and bugs and slugs were eating them. i had to lollypop them some due to they were over 3 feet tall. 1 was over 5 feet. i didnt have a cooltube so i put a fan blowing up on the light and was able to get the bulb within about 10" from the plants. i was very happy with the outcome. i dont have any pics of them at least ones im gonna post on the net. but i was inspired by another growers setup and it looked great. im glad i did a vertical grow cause it just gives me more options in growing techniques. i may try this again but will make a vertical cooltube instead of the fan underneath.here is a few pics of someone elses grow. enjoy.

thanks, and very nice.

maybe due to my room size i will have no choice but to go with a reflector.

the vertical option seems to take up alot of floor space and i have more height to play with than floor space.

no problem. but with a vertical grow you dont need alot of floor space, you need the ceiling height.
i think in those pics he had a 4x4 floor area and i dont think he is using it all. but good luck

Look up "Heath Robinson" and "FloJo" on here. They both are kinda the guys to talk to about vertical. Heath's flooded tube is my dream setup.

The search function doesn't work very well when searching for individual people sometimes. Just go to the Members List and search for them that way. Or go to the Hydro section, and look for "Heath's flooded vertical tube" or something like that...

ok, thanks.

maybe i could use a 250W hps as vertical and a 400/600 as standard horizontal with hood?
