vert grow question?

Do any of you use a a cool tube with reflector taken off to vertical grow? I noticed most go with a bare bulb, but it looks easier for me to use a cool tube for this. Maybe some of you have tried both? Is there a difference in yield? Do you loose much light with the cool tube. Thanks in advance or knowledge.

I've heard that 1 layer of glass will block 15% of the light passing thru it. I have no first hand knowledge of it tho.

Iv done both and prefer the barebulb. Iv read there is 10-15% light loss, and allot of it is uvb so not only decreasing yield but also quality.

I am on my first vertical (sog), using cool tube for a couple of reasons but what I really like is no part of any plant is more than 8-9" away from the bulb. Looking very promising at the moment, 3 weeks to go. 10-15% light loss doesn't neccessarily mean 10-15% loss of yield.

I have never noticed a difference with/without a cool tube. Im not saying there is no difference just saying if there was it was negligible(WW X BB Heath style). But if your set up for a 600 watt bare bulb you can push it with a 1000 watt and cool tube. That should make a noticeable difference. You will likely need to ventilate the tube if you go bigger watts in a space not designed for it. Just saying , if you need it use it if not then don't. I like having the option for hotter months so having the tube on hand is not so bad.
