Venezuela, Socialist Beacon...on verge of collapse? No, not bacon...

but venezuela wasnt a communist society, they are a SOCIALIST DICTATORSHIP, which can last a really long time provided theres enough wealth to squeeze out of a country before the apparatchiks flee to Paris or Geneva with the country's loot.
True, true.

I wasn't calling venezuela communist, I was just talking about communism in general. From what I've seen throughout history is that even when tried, communism loses to those in power and becomes socialism with a red cloak. I haven't studied it much, but I know being under my desk protected me from those evil communists (that weren't really communists).

They must have ran out of other people's money.

50% inflation isn't that bad considering how bad it can really get.

Nope...they still have ~$21Bn left.
But when 95% of exports consist of oil, one has a tenuous link to the outside world.
However, America is still the #1 customer (and seller), last time I checked.
Ergo, you are a commie-lover...

As I sit here and type, the snow falls outside, gently.
1:30 AM and someone is singing, their voice clear with no reverb, the frozen sky fluff deadening all stray sounds into silence.

Then there is Venezuela...

This gentleman has a rather sober perspective on the matter and manages to give a plausible series of reasons for the perceived incidents taking place there now.
From inflation, to 'food shortages', to black market dollar arbitrage...he manages to dispel some myths while providing a deeper understanding of the mechanics behind the scenes.

thats how marxism fishes in the numbskulls.

communism and utopian dreams as the bait, then they set the socialist hook and youre stuck in the 1930's for 60+ years.

No, no NO, no!

Communism and socialism are perfect forms of government, it's just that the Venezualans, Cubans, Soviets, Chinese, North Koreans, and every other nation that dabbled in it did it wrong, see. Get your facts straight.

just like all the nations that tried austerity and suffered its effects didn't practice TRUE austerity, they did it wrong.

We practiced austerity and came out swinging, so did the UK (highest growth in industrialised world), Iceland, Germany...

The US is the only country clinging to the ridiculous notion of spending out of a recession.

nuhh uhh!! look at spain and greece!
they did carefully orchestrated FAKE "austerity" (in a deliberately calculated scheme to deepen the crisis) and the crisis got deeper!

clearly the solution to having more debt than money is to charge more shit until shit just works itself out!

how can you be so blind!

economics is a circle, and if you keep riding the fail-train express line to the poorhouse, eventually you will reach prosperity!

Iceland said fuck it and let their banks fail, go up in smoke when the '08 crisis happened. Real austerity? Perhaps just defaulting on some of these banks is just what the world needs to get growing again.

Iceland has a 5% annual GDP growth now, more than twice that of the USA.

If only the laws could be enforced to rout out the nest of vipers who use finance as a way to control nations and events.

Yet the countries practicing austerity havnt added as much relatively to their national debt.

We'll have a balanced budget this year, and equal growth to the US.

Austerity doesnt work?

Balancing a budget is easy. All you do is only spend as much as you steal from the slaves. When you spend more the slaves have to produce more chillens to help kick the can down the road. You weren't getting "all Doer" when you used the word "we" were you?

You still living in that tax less utopia in your brain?

Some day you'll live in the real world and be able to have grown up conversations...

spain and greece's "austerity" didnt work, (because it was designed to fail) so therefore all attempts to spend less than you take in must be doomed to failure!

spain and greece cut social services, but continued dumping tons of cash into bloated pension programs for upper echelon govt bureaucrats, continued spending wildly on wacky programs and white elephants, and then acted surprised when their increased spending on bullshit, while slashing needed services was a failure.

just like california, cutting social services to the bone but continuing to fund a boondoggle "high speed" rail project which will not even be "high speed" nor will it serve any productive purpose.

austerity works when it is done by people who actually want austerity, it always fails when it's reluctantly implemented by petulant children who will sabotage the work just to prove it should never be attempted again.

if you break a bunch of dishes and overflow the sink, maybe mommy wont tell you to wash the dishes any more.

yes, Cosco and Norinco (the second largest "Peoples Army" subsidiary) manufacture nearly everything in china. they run the whole country through a network of subsidiaries, and shell companies.

anything bought from china is actually bought from The People's Army and the chinese Politburo.

"China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO), the PRC's state-owned shipping company, operates under the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and answers to the PRC State Council. China Ocean Shipping Company [COSCO] owns and operates more than 100 general cargo and specialized carriers on the basis of liner and tramp services, including state-of-the-art heavylifts, semi-submersible, ro-ro, multi-purpose, car carriers with their overall capacity ranking ahead in the world. Cosco was deemed by the U.S. House of Representatives Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare to be a military-related entity. According to the Task Force report, “Although presented as a commercial entity, Cosco is actually an arm of the Chinese Military."

The Chinese Military-Commercial Complex
By Dr. Gary K. Busch 3/12/08

There seems to be a great misunderstanding of the nature of Chinese capitalism; the great engine of modernisation which is hailed as leading to the restructuring of the Chinese State and towards its eventual democratisation. The misunderstanding arises because there is only a dim perception in the international community that the large bulk of these Chinese companies are owned and operated by the Chinese military. They are corporations created in a similar structure to what might be called ‘zaibatsu’ in Japan or ‘chaebol’ in Korea. These ‘zaibatsu’ were large centrally-controlled vertical monopolies consisting of a holding company on top with a wholly-owned banking subsidiary providing finance, and several industrial and trading subsidiaries dominating specific sectors of a market, either solely, or through a number of sub-subsidiary companies. These are now international in scale. The influence of the Chinese military in the economic affairs of China has been extensive for the last three thousand years. They have always dominated the agricultural sector and, after the death of Mao Tse Tung, they have been the dominant force in Chinese industry and politics.

true dat.

cosco is however, the larger or the two main umbrella corporations that dominate chinese "markets" (#2 is Norinco)

every chinese industry of note is run by one or the other f these two giants of state corporate controlled "capitalism", but what they really have is socialism devolving into fascism, which will most likely further devolve into feudalism
