Vegging in Rockwool before transplanting into dwc

Hello i have 3 plants under a 600w hps in a 1mx1m room due to be ready on christmas day, they are in dwc buckets.

I have 3 seeds germinating, i want to veg these until xmas day until they can be moved into the flower room.

I plan on using a small cupboard with upto 100watt of fluoresent lighting to veg in, but i wont be able to veg in dwc because i cant fit the buckets in the cupboard and i dont have extra pumps

So im trying to think of a way to veg for 2/3 weeks

Would i be able to use big rockwool cubes and hand water?

or any other suggestions?

Thanks

What you're talking about is DTW - drain to waste.. and yes it will work, also since you're doing this in the seedling stage, you won't waste barely any nutes.

Sure I keep some clones vegging in starter plus fire over a month now just to retain the genetics. Its kind of hilarious because they look like palm trees. Just give them a dip when they dry out.

You'll want to transfer to bigger cubes if you plasm O'flowering them. At least two inch

DTW - watering rockwool and letting it drain out.. don't let the rockwool sit in water or nutes.. it has to drain, hence drain to waste.

The only time I do it is right after germination for a few days while they're not yet in DWC.

Have you thought about using a smaller container for the DWC until you can move them to their permanent buckets? There are several threads about growing DWC in those plastic Folgers coffee cans. I personally use a smaller, flatter, shoebox sized DWC starter to keep them in for about a month. Then, when they are ready for flower, I move them to the normal buckets and put them in the flowering tent.
