Using the "Flowering" LED for Veg

Hi, I got an HTG supply LED light, 135w. It's for a 2x2 space with 4 plants. Right now I have 230 Watts CFL for Veg. I was thinking of using about 100 watts CFL and the LED lamp to speed up veg for one more week and then switch to flower, but I have two questions.

1) Will the LED's red hue hurt the veg process?
2) Will removing the 6500k CFL's and reducing the amount of lights when flowering starts cause any problems?

My 4 strains are Bubba Kush, NYC Sour Diesel, Platinum Skunk, and LA Confidential. They are hybrids and indicas so I don't need too much light.

And one more thing. The club I got these babies from out here in Cali was shut down today. So I am feeling kinda emotional and really appreciate the help. Thank you.

It's looking like something from the international space station in there! Super glad I can veg away cuz I wanna get these guys nice and fat before they flower :).

Also, the temp is at 74 degrees and I even changed the exhaust fan to a really small fan. This is the safest way to grow, no doubt.

This the one you got or the bloom booster? http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-7-Band-135w-UFO-LED.asp I have seen this one in action and you can veg and flower with it. You can also add 3 or 4 26watt CFL's if you like to round it out for side lighting.
Yeah, that's it. It's the only one I could find with accurate LED wavelengths. It was also only 180 flat on ebay. I have two and set the plants up in a 2x4 tent now that I'm sure I can veg them for another 2 weeks. Bubba Kush already stinks and she has only been vegging about 2.5 weeks. :D

Who told you that indica dominant plants don't need "too much light" <<whatever this means
No your 135w(actual??) is not gonna be enough light for four photoperiod girls(maybe 12/12 from the start/still borderline)/cut that in half and make sure you can vent that heat from those extra cfl's
Good luck and happy growing

I revegged and vegged plenty with flowering LED lights, it's all good, if anything I got even better results than with the blue led

It was in Ed Rosenthal's book, Cannabis Grow Volume 4. he says indicas can make do with less watts per square foot than sativas. Makes sense to me, they have much fatter and darker leaves. More chlorophyll. Plus they don't want to stretch like sativas, which means they concentrate on buds, not keeping up with their jungle competitors to reach the sky. Anyway, I'm new so I don't really know, but I gotta trust my gut here because trial and error is going to teach me more, anyway. I'm young and new at this.

I have 270w in a 2x4. Almost 35w led / square foot. If Ed says an HPS can fully bloom indicas at 40w / square foot, these should be fine. I'm doing it all as an experiment and learning experience, like I said. So we shall see.

Good to know! Thanks.

I got these LED's off HTG because they hit the wavelengths of both Chlorophyll A and Chlorophyll B. If my hypothesis is correct, these babies will grow both ways because their chlorophyll is being activated along 4 key wavelengths. Chlorophyll doesn't change when the plant flowers. The duration of light does. So, I don't see why this won't work. Sure is fun to think about.

Yes ^^^correct Indicas(pure)don't compared to Sativas(pure) ......(love Ed's books btw), but you made a broad generalization in the sense of comparing light needs of houseplants, Cannabis NEEDS high levels of light(indoors) period..........Also with these popular strains they are mostly (hybrids/as u stated) crosses(sadly) and their pheno's or traits that they will exhibit during the grow are not always guaranteed, so us indoor growers have too cut out any variables that can cause poor growth(ph/watering/nutes/light), and just give them the most light we can in an indoor environment...........good luck

Edit...shit I quoted the wrong post........oh well U know what quote I meant...........happy growing

Thank you!

Yes, I would use HPS lights if I wasn't living in an apartment. I just get too paranoid thinking about the building burning down and the kids above me getting trapped. It's happened before to many a grower.

To compensate for the light issue, I have decided to give them an hour extra. 19 hours on, 5 off. I may continue this when they flower. Ed's tip, again. He said some don't need 12 full hours of darkness.

Have you lit up under the LED's yet? The BIC looks green, hahaha. That tripped me out tonight.

Anyway, I'm just going to let these LED's do their thing and I will report back what happens. Off to the learning I go!

And one more thanks to those who joined the conversation!

Yes I've mainly used HID for indoor grows(switched to cmh for a couple years now) and we also tried to keep our neighbors in mind when we ran larger grows, we even used these http://www.sunlightsupply.com/m-189-flame-defender.aspx for peace of mind.........

But now I'm in a different situation and my next little grow will be in my apt. complex so I will be using a new led panel and some other "trickery" that I've learned to pull off a summer sealed stealth grow...<<<hopefully ...........it will be interesting to see if I can pull anything decent with my setup.......

Oh and pics would be nice if available:)......be safe and happy growing
