you must being doing something wrong bud. Your tomatoes should be huge yield taste remarkable better and little vegetive growth. Believe me , do a google search and start ya reading for optimum results with tomatoes. The bud will grow the same and will have little leaf matter and huge cola's. Needs more attention than regular methods so you've been told, maintanance for best results.

I think it has to do with the light intensity under the overhang on my balcony. They're stretching trying to soak up more rays. Unfortunately, I can't extend the balcony so I get what I get. I think that since plants on the ground don't have anywhere to stretch, they give up and put their energy into fruiting as well as they can.
I might try forcing the hanging tomato baskets this year, just like an mj plant. Give them a big nutrient push towards flowering and prune new branch growth aggressively.
Anyway, if anyone has pics of hanging cannabis (as in, hanging in a bucket) I'd love to see em.

Wouldn't the water run down and out over your stem, thus getting whatever nutes you're using all over your leaves? Not sure that's such a good thing, but I don't know. I suppose you could water them just a little at a time.
Where would your light be, on or near the floor? More problems with kicking it, dust settling on the bulb, water dripping on it, etc. To fix that you could devise a transparent shield of some sort.
It would be pretty cool but has it's own set of problems to figure out. I'm just playing devil's advocate, don't mean to harsh your creativity.

In my tomato buckets, I line the bottom of the bucket with redwood bark over pretty tightly packed moss. The water runs through the bark quickly, but the moss acts like a sponge. As soon as the moss starts to drip, I stop watering. There isn't much runoff after that, and the redwood wicks the moisture from the moss up into the soil, after which the two layers help to retain moisture in the soil. I do the same thing on the top of the bucket.

Don't have a problem anymore with drainage.
Was over watering just to confirm how much to apply.
Have no lava rock or other drainage medium, straight organic soil.
Only problem with this and its not even a problem is one needs to water daily during bloom.
Not to concerned about salt buildups provided one applies the juice with common sense and realizes with organics one usually won't encounter this problem most common with fertilizers containing metals and radiation.

holly shit he said he grew romaine it 15 days. package said 65 days. what the hell would this do to pot. man i am going to have to tell the wife i am building another one. lol. i dont think my marriage could handle it.

The pot grows like a Bonsai plant, one-three thick colas wrapping around the underside of the medium growing upwards around it. Haven't noticed any increased growth rate other than normal routine rates. Keep checking this thread and will post real buds within weeks. Kinda dense and still a ways to go before one can justify my idear.

Here is an update and some results to how the shit grows while hanging suspended from the ceiling with !000W bulbs hanging down vertical within the center of the 4ft Diameter circle.
With suffecient air movement with oscillating fans my bulbs are within 6-8 inches from the buds. Beware of burn LOL.
Was a shade and horizontal bulbs user for many years and went with hanging bulbs down within circle of plants and get all my lumens down to the dirt. Nice tight nuggs throughout.
Well here 's my "proto type" first time shot at my girls hanging. 7-10 days left and gots friggin mites again. Damn I'm not into spraying anything now or using sulphur burner due to bubble hash maker here.
Plant were cleaned up after the shots due to help was in a hurry and had to go home. Tough being married for some. LOL
Being first shot at this decided to let plant grow naturally with no pruning, bending or any other tactics to get the plant to produce volume buds.
BUT, this being said the next shot will be all of the above for optimum results. Don't get caught with my copyright or I'll hunt ya down for my infringement payments and royalties. LMAO

You say you have your lights vertical? Why would you not put them completely under the plants? I thought the main advantage to this system was less fight for nutrients and water for the plant because of the help of gravity, so why wouldn't you put the lights just upside down on the floor?
