Union dues average 2 hours of pay PER MONTH

Public sector unions confiscate dues from their members and spend them as they chose primarily by donating them to the campaigns of polticians that promise to give more benefits to the unions. Rinse, repeat and you have detroit. Most of the operating budget of the city goes to pay fat pensions to retired union members and there is nothing left for police and fire protection. The city is bankrupt.

Is that bad enough?

Cops and firefighters are in unions as well
the city negotiated the terms the union accepted.
What politician doesn't have a tax payer retirement plan?
Are they in a union?
But somehow workers are the problem. ... right?

Unions aren't bad. Union leadership is bad.

They hold anti company sentiments just as strongly as pro worker sentiment.

Unions were a great success. Most, if not all of the important and legitimate reforms they sought for labor have been codified in law.

Unions are just like blockbuster stores, designed to do something that is no longer necessary.

The city is bankrupt. You asked why unions are bad, I gave an example. The politicians and the union leadership is at fault. It is a parasitic relationship that ends with the death of the host.

I have been blaming most of everything on politicians and government for a long time. Are you jumping on board?

are you an union worker?
Wut up Mongo?
I'm a union carpenter by trade, and union dues really aren't that bad at all.

I'll tell you this also: We get paid more than our non-union counterparts. By far!
Because of collective bargaining. Hourly+bennies+retirement.
We are also more trained because of our apprenticeship programs. IMO, as a developer, you would have to be retarded to choose a non-union shop to do something we do. Which is always commercial, sometimes residential.

I'm on a cell phone you want compelling evidence how about name the city.
Detroit is in bankruptcy primarily due to the union payrolls.

Another part is that people in the city do not feel the need to pay their water bills and are shocked that their water is being shut off. In fact the UN has gotten involved to tell Detroit to turn the water back on. Personally I think we should tell the UN to fuck off and find someplace other than America to hold meetings but that is just me.
