That's right. It's really one fucked up dude with a multiple personality disorder logging in and out arguing with himself.

Actually, I was watching this clip of Chris Matthews, whom I despise, calling some Republican stooge a racist for some non racist remarks the republicans have been making.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/27/chris-matthews-reince-priebus-birth-certificate_n_1832872.html

As usual, Chris is way off base, but he did bring light to something that hadn't been on my radar. The Republicans do use language that is poll tested and proven to give people the impression that he is exotic and somehow not American. Calling Obamacare European (which it's not), cracking birther jokes, and pushing that phony welfare story are really not logical lines of attack. Especially when there are real issues you could attack him on.

Then I remembered Frank Luntz. He's a republican operative who polishes messages so that his clients can get their points across in fifteen second sound bites. Luntz shows that the meanings of words really don't matter, it's what people think they mean that matters. It's the feeling that the word gives someone that really matters. You wouldn't say Obamacare is Canadian or Scandinavian because that doesn't illicit as negative a response as calling it European. Of course, if one gave a fuck about accuracy, it really has little in common with any of those systems.

Now I look at all these pointless partisan arguments that seem to pop up all over this forum and so many of these comments can be scrutinized in the same light. I recently got into an argument about what "socialism" meant, about what a "free market" is and it turns out everybody has a different idea of what exactly those things are and they're actually all right. These are broad fucking words that cover a lot of fucking ideas. Look up the word "capitalism" and you'll find that there are a bunch of different types of capitalism and odds are everyone on this forum has a different idea of what it is.

So just consider that for a moment when you read some of these back and forths between some of these lefties and righties on this forum. Try to see past the poll tested words they use and figure out exactly what these guys are arguing for. I'll bet that they're not nearly as different as Luntz would have you believe.

And vote Gary Johnson 2012, beeyatch!

Chris Mathews would make an excellent premiered zombie. Not an extra walker in the crowd, but that zombie that gets some camera face shots and ends up killing a main character.

I always thought Gyroscope and Bucky were the same. They know intimate details about eachother that not even gay companions do.

If I lost anyone with this thread, you need to smoke another joint.

This is just another thread about how Dems and Republicans are the same. I'm making the case that they use loaded words to appeal to different demographics, when they're actually in favor of pretty much the same shit.

I'd like to go a step further and throw this out there. What if the script for the next four years is already written and this election is really just an audition for which actor is going to land the part?

Before you lecture me on the dangers of smoking crack, consider this: Go back to 2008 and try to imagine McCain winning. Do you think that the country would be any different today? Would it be hard to imagine McCain going into Libya and using drones to bomb the shit out of Pakistan? You might think that he would have stayed in Iraq a little longer, but remember that we reduced our troops on the schedule that Bush had laid out.
Would it be hard to imagine McCain bailing out the banks and passing the stimulus? All the Republicans voted for the first bailout including McCain and stimulus is something each party has done in times of economic recession. I'm sure you've all seen the clip of Paul Ryan arguing for Bush's stimulus in 2002.
How about Obamacare? Could McCain really have passed Obamacare? For me this is the easiest one of all. It actually makes more sense for McCain to pass Obamacare. The blueprint had been around since the 80's and it originated on the right. First the Heritage Foundation published it. Second, Milton Friedman published a paper pushing for the idea. Then Bob Dole ran on that as a health care plan. In fact, Obama is the first democrat to ever support the idea.

Hell, I'm starting to think the script for 2008-2012 was written for McCain. Who would have guessed that the black guy would win?

Well said, drives me fucking nuts anymore. Really only one or two issues they differ on (gun control) and that will never change.
