Twisted: Take Two

My first grow was a pretty spectacular failure, but I don't give up easily. Meet Nellie III. (For some reason Nellie II never broke soil after germing).



The top picture was taken 2 days after she broke soil. She is currently an outdoor grow and probably will be until time to flower.

These are from today. (Day 7)



Another seed will be going in water tonight to become Nellie IV.

Forgot to mention in my OP, this is feminized Northern Lights. Comments/replies are welcome.

Do you plan on growing this completely outdoors? I also got an outdoor grow going you can check it out in my signature

The plan right now is to keep her outside at least until time to flower. I don't really have a good grow space inside at the moment. I'm hoping by the time I put her in flower the temps will be down enough that I can put her in the garage. Too hot in there right now.

Day 9. Had a heavy dew this morning. Looks kinda cool on the leaves.

Nellie IV failed to germ. Nellie V goes in water shortly. If this one isn't viable, I'm going to be highly unhappy, since it's my last NL fem seed and would make this batch 2 for 5.

What's your procedure for germination? It sounds like something is going wrong if you're only getting a 40% germination rate. Personally, I think if you can be careful the paper towel method is one of the better methods, it negates the risk of drowning the seed in a glass of water.

I've only had 1 out of 4 that didn't germ. 1 germed, but didn't grow. I'm doing it the lazy way though... (glass of water).

Day 11

Day 13. A few brown spots on one bottom leaf, but I don't think they're anything to worry about at this point. It does bug me that she sprouted off center though. Damn OCD... lol

Nellie V successfully germed. She just took her sweet time about it. She's in soil now and hopefully will sprout soon.

Day 15.

Repotted to a Jiffy 5 last night. If she keeps growing like this she'll be in a fabric pot in no time.

Day 17 for Nellie III.

My big girl sure looks pretty this morning.




Nellie V apparently broke soil in the middle of the night 2 nights ago and I didn't notice til halfway through the day, so she's looking a bit stretched, but no worries.

Day 19 for Nellie III.

I didn't get my girls inside before a heavy rain hit yesterday, so she's looking a little battered and over watered, but she'll be okay.





Day 5 for Nellie V.

She's looking like a slow grower so, but it's been a little cloudy the last couple days. More sunshine is coming over the next few days, so maybe she'll perk up.

Day 21 for Nellie III.

Planning on moving to a fabric pot tonight, if I have enough soil left.

She's showing some progress now. I'll top up her soil later.

Day 23 for Nellie III. She's looking happy in her new home.





Day 9 for Nellie V. She had a small growth explosion the last 24 hours.

Been a busy few days for me and the girls...

Day 29 for my big girl.

She's got a little heat stress from the rough summer heat and I found a couple little worms today, but she's still growing like... well... a weed. lol She's about 10" tall now so it's almost time to start flowering.





Day 15 for Nellie V.

Forgot to rotate her the last couple days so she's looking a little crooked, but no other noticeable issues.

Day 31 for Nellie III.

Did what I guess would be considered extreme LST on her yesterday. Keeping her height down will be important to getting decent yield without being found out by the neighbors. So instead of flowering early and making due with a minimal harvest I bent her ~100° just above the 5th node. She seems surprisingly unstressed by it considering the new growth already coming in at the 5th and uninterrupted development everywhere else. Just need to get the stupid worms under control.





Day 17 for Nellie V.

No training yet for this one, just normal growth progression. I'll either top or manifold her when she's big enough and I'll be transfering her to a bigger pot very soon.
