Turning Keif Into Wax?

ah. interesting. youre talking about dabbing a hash material?

ive recently come across some very nice bubble hash, which ive been experimenting with on the nail.. cant quite get hash figured out on the nail. (my hash does create ash.. not 100% full melt). seems that the nail needs to be red fuckin hot, otherwise it doesnt completely burn or make a nice thick hoot. nail cools off quick. maybe because its a cheap nail though?? I dont know... practice practice is all it is! I will try removing it once the thick smoke stops. I usually keep the dabber on the nail twirling and pushing to get every last bit!

I smoke hash on my oil rig nail dome setup.
nail has to be cherry red and you need something to cover your globe opening, I use a small metal ashtray.
drop on a chunk throw on your globe and cover with whatever orks, dont use your hand it will be way to Hot!
you will see smoke fill the globe just pull gently and the air will keep the hash burning. Just leave it covered while its burning and smoke till its completely burned. I even smoke keif on my nail this way just cover it fast!
peace,

I just stick a piece onto my dabber.

which brings up another question..

sometimes I can just stick the dabber onto the nail, and not pull/suck... and it fills JUST the small globe up with smoke, very very thick smoke. but then when I do pull it in, it doesnt make the hoot big, even though it just burnt the full hoot. why is that?

also, will a cheap TI (fake TI) nail take longer to heat, and not retain its heat as well?

I don't have any dab equipment, but here is a video of some of the most recent bat on a bowl.

Why no mention of ISO, would it not produce a better flavor wax than ethanol because of the low heat requirements?
I find the ISO is a great polar solvent but when compared to ethanol, flavor for flavor, I find ethanol tastes a lot better. Whether it be used for a single solvent extraction, or used for winterization. I found ethanol will taste better. Buttttt I still think ISO is easier, cheaper, and works well. I'm in Cali so keep that in mind. But 151 works too ;)

Interesting, I was thinking with the kief not having the whole terp profile as the plant that the extract would be similar across bho/iso/eth and leaving low heat ftw.

Iso definitely sounds easiest..

Yes, but hash will leave more residue behind and smoke longer than a solvent concentrate.
The dawg chimes in on the one year old question but missed the one from yesterday......

Still super curious to discuss kief and iso? And its place in the extract tree..

Didn't miss it, I often let others have their say before chiming in, so as to not cut off discussion.

I prefer ethanol to isopropyl for pharma and medibles, because of its lower toxity.

I initially started out extracting with ethanol, and switched from extracting raw plant material, to extracting bubble, to get away from the chlorophyll. It works very well for that purpose.

Thanks, I know what you're talking about; but for me you spark more thoughts.

So you're saying ethanol to pick up less chlorophyll? In Keef wouldn't the chlorophyll be in such small amounts since it is separated from the plant matter already?

What about the water in eth? Wouldn't it need higher heat to purge and results in more terps lost then using iso evap method?

I would assume too shorter soak time with the more aggressive solvent?

What SP said. Kif takes chlorophyll out of the equation for either Ethanol or Iso. Chlorophyll is readily soluble in both, as it is polar with its magnesium atom in the molecules tail.

Non polar solvents don't dissolve chlorophyll into solution, but may carry it clumped together in micelles.

That makes sense, so that makes the playing field level for the solvents with kief in regards to chlorophyll.

Will all solvents absorb 100% of the available components in the kief since it's concentrated trich heads?

I'm not sure if i'm missing the point, are all solvents the same in the case of kief?

What about 140 proof home made moonshine ?

cool, yea i i have access to it and i figured i might give it a try someday.

letting the water evap off outta the shine is a pretty good idea, maybe place a fan on it?
