Trying to Self a Maui Wowie

I've been trying for the last 2 grows to get some pollen from my clone only line of Maui Wowie. Grow before this one I tried every form of abuse I could to get the bitch to turn, it wouldn't grow balls, a friend also let one go for 18 wks and it wouldn't nut up either. This grow I'm trying colloidal silver.

I've been spraying once a day, 2 to 3 hrs prior to lights on. Been using store bought material
Started 7 days prior to 12/12 flip, using "Trace Mineral Research" 30 ppm and saw no real change during this week
Flipped and changed CS to "Silver Mountain Minerals" 50 ppm. And have treated for 12 more days, with this solution I've seen a lot of deformity in the plant but no balls as of yet. How long should it take to start to show?

Pics: 1st the subject prior to first application. The rest were taken yesterday. The last shows the CS subject in front of sister of same age on left. As you can see CS is very stunted. Is this normal?

Is it possible to have a strain that won't man up???

U can also try GA3 its just like CS, u want seeds? have u tried letting one of ur clones keep growing after the time its supposed to be harvested leave it on 12/12 and it might produce seeds that way as well.

I would try the CS and if your unsuccessful, cube it. Meaning you outcross it to another strain and grow them out and choose another male(s) and breed to the clonbe again. Then 75% of the genetics are from the Maui. You can even keep going until it's close to 100% if you wanted to.

I've heard that GA is less effective than CS on strains that are hard to turn, but being that I've never used GA I can't say myself. And yes my friend took this 8wk strain to 16wk with no effect other than ruining the bud.

Great idea, I'll give it a try also this grow. The other 11 sprouts under the lamp are all reg seed starts, all from Hawaii I only know for sure what one strain is and hopefully I get a male of that. The others are unknown. Got a bunch of possibilities including Duck Foot (haven't seen this one, but sure would like to)

It looks like I finally have the makin's of pollen sacs. I applied the last spray on Sunday the 29th day when I noticed what weren't female flower heads. Do I need to continue spraying once pollen sacs have started to form??

I also stopped because it was killing the plant. Here's a few shots of the poor deformed he/she.

dude what happend??? did you get the pollen and make the cross?
It is pretty lame to not finish a thread.

So after 2wks with no spray the he/she started to turn back into a she. Well I wasn't going to give up now, and tracked down some 18ga fine silver wire and made a CS generator.

I took the silver poisoned girl outside and flushed it real good while making CS.
Well it spent an hour and a half in indirect sun and couldn't take it and shit itself
projects 021.jpg END OF EXPERIMENT

Summery; I learned that CS must be applied right up to the point where the sacks are ready to burst, and it seemed like the store bought CS was really harsh on the plant.

Next week I'll be finished with the current grow, which does carry seed from a X with a Big Island Thunder male. and I've got 2 new clones to try again, this time with homemade CS. As a matter of fact I'll be making the 1st application this evening.

I am actually doing the same experiment right now i sprayed the day before i put it under 12 12 and sprayed for about 3 weeks and it looked like it was going to die so i stoped and put it out side in the shade and and still no buds or sacs im just kinda waiting to see what happens should i still keep spraying it or wait for sacs then keep spraying it?

It took me 29 days of spraying before I saw any sacs. And the plant will look pretty rough by then.

One thing I did notice was that you don't have to drench the whole plant everyday. I found that you can just spray the bud sites and minimize the spray on the fan leaves and it will still change.

I've started again and have one more day of veg spray before I flip to 12/12
