Trying something new

I think next time i do a water change im going to use a glad garbage bag to line my res, that way i minimze cleaning the res out. All i'd have to do is drain with my sumergable water pump, flush out my grow medium (hydroton), drain again, and then remove the bag, remove pump and air diffusers and clean them, put in new bag, put back in air diffusers and water pump, fill back up with water and nutes.

thats a lot easier than removing the res to go clean it, because then i'll have to find a place to put the plants while the res is being cleansed....what do you guys think?

believe it or not, some guy came here spamming a "reservoir liner" which was essentially just a trash bag... not something new, but a good idea nonetheless.

new for me, but it didn't work, i used a 30 gallon bag on a 18 gal res, the bag wouldn't fit around the lip of the res

Next time you're at walmart, look for larger bags... or if you go to home depot, pick up those plastic sheets painters put on the floors to avoid paint dripping... those plastic sheets come in varying thickness and are generally very large.

indeed, i did not think of that, i'll have to try that, hopefully my water pump isn't too powerful to were it will try to suck up the plastic preventing the pump from working, lol
