Trim and 'trash'

Hi,
My name is Chris, I am 27 years old and live in Connecticut. Three years ago I was crossing the street to go to work and was hit by a car going 60mph, the force of the vehicle knocked me back into the road where the car behind it ran over both of my legs, breaking my legs and ankles. Obviously it has been a long road, it took about 6 months before I could get to the bathroom myself. I'm not going to go into much more detail about the accident, but I was left with a herniated disk, lumbar spinal stenosis, nerve damage in my lower back and legs, and 4 "degenerated" discs, 18% permanant disability in my right leg.

Due to the severe pain I have switched from smoking buds, to smoking to oil. Because here in the state of Connecticut we do not have recreational laws to protect us, and only medical laws which do not allow for us to grow our own plants, it is very hard to obtain high quality oil/concentrates. The dispensary here is twice the price per gram of the black market oil, which is too expensive, as well as availability being shotty at best. I am not in a position where I can comfortably wait 5-7 days for someone to come through.

My wife and I have started doing the most logical thing we could, running our own. The biggest problem with this is that the price to yield ratio when buying buds is NOT very cost effective. We are trying to find anyone who might be willing to donate any trim or any material that may not be of any use to them. We are struggling to make it through a very rough patch in our lives and could really use to cash in on a little bit of those karma points I have been putting in the bank (just kidding lol).

Really, anyone who might be able to help us out, you have no idea how much of a difference you would be making in our lives, I appreciate you taking the time to read this.

Note: I have read forum rules and guidelines and understand that discussion of dealing, drug trafficking, and drug hook-ups is obviously against forum rules. Because I am a medical marijuana patient and asking about the possibility of anyone willing to DONATE any un-needed trim or 'trash', I am unclear whether my post follows forum guidelines because of the rather grey area this falls under. I am obviously trying to respect the rules so if I have done something wrong here, I sincerely do apologize and would ask that my post simply be deleted.

Never made oil, don't like using it, prefer regular nuggins. How much trim is needed to make how much oil? Legalities of sending trim in the mail?

I'm new to making my own oil, everything i have READ says yields between 20-25%. I guess depending on quality of starting material I've heard 3g-6g of oil per ounce of dry material.

In my own experience, the best yield I have gotten recently was 2.5g from 14g of nug. I live in CT so its not like Cali or Colorado, but we do have oil sold on the black market for 100-120 an 8th
$30-$40 a gram but I have come to the conclusion they either "cut" it with something, or its all fucking oil made from trim. I have thought about it and done the math a thousand different ways and its the only way I can see it being profitable to be growing nugs and turning it into oil at $40 a g.

The difference between the oil we MAKE and the stuff we buy though, its obviously it is of much better quality, and I would say 1g of stuff we make from buds or trim lasts the same amount of time as 2g of "work" oil.

Also, I have only ran trim once, and it was about 60g dried of some mediocre trim from some plants someone had grown and chopped prematurely. Yielded 1.6g, which for the qaulity of starting material I can't be disappointed. That trim would have been thrown away if we hadnt put it to good use so I can't complain!

Also, until I had stopped using opiates (prescribed and otherwise) after getting into the car accident, thats around the time I switched to oil. I still ALWAYS keep real buds around because no matter what, because as good as the potency of oil can be, it is no where the "FULL SPECTRUM" high that nugs offer.

My suggestion to you is to keep petitioning for your mmj rights. The country is in UPHEAVAL right now regarding mmj and recreational. The difference is you're in the patient area. Also if you are able to get seeds, try really hard to get seeds that yield big plants. Depending on your pain, there are cbd rich strains you can grow along with the thc strains. The great thing about mmj is if you combine your flowers, you can make some really nice thc and cbd rich oils if you're careful with your process. Be smart. Follow through the science. Make edibles if your wife can help you do that while you tend to plants or other stuff. I'm not an expert but sounds like you have made efforts to get out of your accident intact and using a medicine that is well worth the risk. If you are caught, I can't speak much for you but your case is among the thousands that help move the legalization process along. Again my advice is to advocate yourself and others around you if you can find forums in Connecticut with folks with similar issues. The network becomes powerful when you can find others who are willing to help you if you help back.

Also if you're looking into some cheap way to make quick oil that is ACTUALLY potent look into the Rosin Tech thread. I guarantee you will have some fine concentrate that is quite easy to make in a pinch for a lack of a better term. Honestly you make little boogers of hash from pressing flower but it can surprise you how nice the turnout is if you do it correctly.
