Trichs... when do YOU harvest?

Hey guys... I'm on grow number 3.

Both my first grows were Indica Dominant plants. I let the trichs get real amber before cutting. I think they were about 80% amber.

This grow I have some Sativa dominant plants and I'm wondering when others chop. I heard of people cutting with 30% amber trichs.

My one plant has some buds that are about 40% clear, 40% cloudy, 20% amber. Should I cut off a branch to sample... or is that just a waste of a branch?

What do YOU do? And why?

Thanks guys.

Hell if they are 40% 40% and 20% IMO i would cho a branch for a taste, just to see where you are at that will kinda let ya know if you want to let it go as long as you did the other times......How was your bud the last time letting it go till the trichs were all mostly amber?? was it a great couchlock buzz. The reason i ask is i have some northern lights#5 and im thinking about letting that go till the trichs are amber.

I've done Hindu Skunk with the 80% amber... and that is super couch lock. Almost no head high... just a brick to the head kinda thing.

The Purple Kush I did last time around actually isn't very couchlock at all. More of a haze high... but definitely you feel it in the body. More of a buzz in your body, but not lazy like the HS.

Now that I try to remember I think I cut the Purple Kush with about 70% amber.

Thanks for the response.

I tend to get my sativas earlier in flower because I like the energetic and head high rather than the couch lock.
So I should start flushing now then, huh. It just trips me out becuase I just flipped the switch on Holloween. So it's only been 6 weeks today. I guess I shouldn't complain about plants that get done quickly.

Any idea on what your trichs look like when you chop? or do you just go by looks?

There are many people that will tell you many different things.."yer hairs a be a turnen color".."Them tricomes lean like the tower of pizza".."its x% cloudy oh ya x% thats it, thats when ya know"...

you wana know the truth

A bud is like a fruit, there is a time when it is underripe and tart, perfect and sweet, over ripe and mushy but sometimes sweeter.

some like sweet fruit some like tart

with that said it is a personal choice up to a point. Now in general if one is growing sativa the tart side of the spectrum is there taste, so they would tend to pick it early to right on time, and not let it go over much. On the other hand one growing a very sedative indica may let it go just before "LARFING" to allow the conversion of the canibinoids

there is to soon.... before the cylack sacks fill...the buds will shrivel to little or no yield

there is to late...when the cylax sacks start separating from the main bud"larfing"..buds will be airy flaky and the larf will crumble into shake and yield dramatically lost..

There is about 1 to 2 week period only where the entire 3 stages take place..but anyware in that time is nothing but personal preference.

**
there is usually only a 24-48 hour period that will be you own personal choice

Dude... Wow.

Thankyou.

That pretty much says it all, and I feel like I now have a much better understanding of what is going on.

Seriously thank you for taking the time to construct that response.

I'm off to give the girls a dose of HCO's Gravity... get em a little fatter hopefully.
