I heard from a member, that a Sativa dominate trichomes will look different then an indica strain will, when they are ripe......Anybody have any input on that?

Shots of trichomes ready for harvest. Shot on the top is of an indica dominant strain. Shot on the bottom is a sativa variety:

Hmm, so the magnification on the Sativa is higher, and the color is more on the red side then amber...I hope I don't sound abit slow on this topic, but what is the distinguishing factor between the two? Hope to hear some responses!

What's up guy's and gal's? Anyone have an opinion on this? I figure this is a decently important stem of potency....What's up?

Is there really know one out there with the answer to this? I figured this would be an easy question.. Can anyone out there tell the difference between the trichomes on a Sativa plant that are ripe, and an indica that is ripe? Is there no difference? Hey MT, you have pics of the two strains, I figure you have done some research on this topic, do you have some more input?

ok on the top picture do you see the fine white/clear hairs? then a lil bit of the oil on the very tip also very light colored. that is an indica dominate beauty. so if you want indica you look for the hairs. indica = body

now with sativa dominate strains (the bottom picture) there aren't a lot of hairs are there? but there is a shit ton of oilly goodness seeping from it's pores. sativa = head high.

NOo...jus the opposite..if u have a sativa dat has all amber trichomes, the truth is it is already past ripeness..wen a trichome turns frm clear to milky color it has thc in it..wen the thc degrades it turns amber color..at this point the thc (head high) turns into cannibinoids (stoned high)...ed: spelling of cannibinoids is wrong...i think, bu u get the idea...the truth.

I have a sativa Thai Super Skunk that I'm not sure about either... what's throwing me off is that I've been growing her this long and she's still got new growth coming out of the buds.... leaf, hair, tric, everything is still extending from the tip of the buds... I've been in flower for a couple days over 14 weeks now! I picked a hell of a plant for a first grow...

get a magnifying glass. all the help youll need.. Sit and stare at leafs for a few hours and youll learn to see whats clear cloudy or amber

Ok are your plants getting at least 12 hours(or more)of complete, uninterrupted darkness?I have never heard of any strain going 14 weeks(from day it showed blooms)I'm growing a 100% sativa,Durban poison and it says 12,and my sour diesel says 10 weeks, its week 11 and sour diesel is not ready.Have you been checking a sample of trichomes with a magnification device, jewelers loupe works great. If you see a few amber trichomes and have already flushed, remember no water the last 3 days and harvest in dark period,I do 36 hours dark too before chopping,it seems to make the buds stickier.Good luck and what lights are you using?
