Trichome damage question?

I am curing my buds in a mason jar. I open it up and shake it lightly daily. When i shake the jar and the buds hit the glass. Does that damage the trichomes? I can see specs on the glass from where the trichomes hit the glass. Does that take away from the potency?

Yes, Some of it sticks to the glass.
Just like dry sifting it to make hash.

So try not to shake it as much i guess?

I dont shake mine at all.
Just leaving the lid off for 5mins is enough to exchange all the air out.

Yeah, I agree. I wouldn't ever shake it. There are some important components on the bud.

its a good idea to redistribute the buds in the jar so the drier ones can absorb some of the moisture from the wetter ones. a gently shake shouldn't do a lot of damage, if they're packed in a little too tight to move easilly i'd dump them out and repack them, if they stay in the same place the whole time you'll get some that are drier than others

i had the same concern
my solution, i cut a liner of wax paper so the buds don't touch the glass
the resin doesn't stick to the wax paper, works well

i've used the same jars to cure in for a year, i put them in a box with an ozone generator for 30 minutes before i use them to sterilize them, so they haven't actually been washed in water in close to a year, because they don't need it. they aren't dirty, they're still nice and clear after a year. if all these sticky trichs are leaping off my buds onto the jars, why are they still clean after several uses?
