transition of lights

Hi all. First grow...I'm vegging in a cupboard. 6 hours dark from 12 midnight to 6pm. I've just finished construction on flower room. I'll be putting them under the 600 light, and vegging for another week.

In my flower room I want the 6 hours darkness to be from 12 midday to 6 pm. What's the best way to transition this?? Gracias.

If it were me, I'd set the lights as you want them and just move the plants in during the ' lights on' crossover of both rooms.

Yes, the plants will experience an unusual spell in lighting, but it would be very unlikely to cause any issues.

Why? Well, the flowering response is caused by a buildup of hormones that are generated during the dark period. Without that buildup of hormones the plant will not begin to flower.

There is a thing called ' gas lantern schedule' or something like that that has the usual dark period interrupted by 1 hour of light to prevent the hormonal build up, thus preventing flowering.

If the plant can tolerate that kind of crazy lighting behaviour, one blip in it's lifetime while you move rooms should cause no issues either.

I've totally fucked up my light schedules before bc I had some timer issues. Like on 3 diff grows. I was a month in on 1 grow and didnt notice the lights wernt kicking off after 12 on, for 3 days in a row. I freaked...but they were just fine.

Growan^^ is correct ...slip them in, once the lights are on, note that sleep time will be the hottest time of the day
...in many places keep an eye on temps and use a small fan good luck!

Thanks everyone. What about lwavingvthe lights on all night tonight?? I've seen that some people veg 24 hours. Then, give them their 6 hours darkness in the flowering room from 12 midday til 6 pm tomorrow??

Again, that would probably be fine. As long as you avoid a 12 hour dark period before you're ready to begin flowering you should be OK. The plants will likely not notice the difference.

Yeah, over west at the minute...thought your name sounded irish alright..

Have you any grows on yourself??
I'm out west too. Though originally from England. Got Scottish and Irish in me though, and ginger in me beard!
I'm on a temporary 'no grow' at the minute. Going back to the UK to catch up with family and friends, buy some more kit, seeds, a car....
I plan to start up again by new years day at the latest with a new attic grow room and passive hydro (Hempy). Maybe vertical trellises or another scrog. Not 100% sure yet. Liking the big vert idea though. (Check out ttystickk's Vertical Goodness thread)

Good man...I haven't much of a clue aboutvthem. This is my first grow so just hope to get finished in one piece!'!

And thanks again for the advice. I ran my t5s all night (usually off 12-6am). I'll throw them into flower room now and give them their few hours dark in there and turn on lights at 6 or 7 this eve. Gracias hombre

No problemmo. I'm new enough to the game myself, but I read A LOT. Feel free to pm me if you've any questions, I'll help if I can, and I won't pretend I can help if I don't have an answer! You'll come out the other end fine I recon. It can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be. I quite like it simple...
