Yeah man, I totally agree.

Can I ask, is your pain Physiological or Psychological?

my pain is physical but it has a psycho effect on me. drives me crazy. when i get high the pain is still there i just don't care anymore. takes the edge off. i am grateful for that. :bigjoint:

Ha ha, thats exactly what I meant by a 'Distractant'..... it distracts you from your pain, it doesn't kill it.

no it's doesn't just distract it, it eases it as well. it doesn't hurt so bad after i get high. weather it's in my head or in my body i don't really care. i feel better. in the end that's all that matters. the rest is politics.:mrgreen:

OK then, please send me a link to some of this 'Actual Scientific Evidence' that isn't purely anecdotal, and isn't from people who ALREADY USED CANNABIS.

You can say what you like, but you're never going to convince me that Marijuana is more effective than opiates at killing pain. (Marijuana, as I said might be PREFERABLE to some people, but if you're pain is great enough, you're going to NEED opiates).
Well, if that's the case then I won't waste my time and yours by sending you any information that might prove otherwise.

Ok then, but that's not very Scientific of you.

I'm not questioning the validity of MJ's benefit to people who are in pain (because a benefit is entirely subjective), I'm just stating (the fact) that opiates are a MORE EFFECTIVE pain killer(for most people), and that (I expect) most people who use Marijuana 'medicinally' already used it recreationally before they had call to use it 'medicinally'.

I wonder how many people there are who use MJ medicinally, but, who didn't use it before that.... I think I'll start a poll.

the poll results would be similar to a poll of "who has smoked weed, but did not inhale ?"

Oh? Well, you're the one who stated that nothing would convince you that you might be wrong on the matter.

Well, how about this for starters then: cannabis makes opiates a FAR more effective painkiller than the opiate in isolation. That for sure has been proven. Check out this video for more info.

And here's another: most doctors will tell you that opiates are practically useless for most forms of migraine and cluster headaches, yet cannabis helps both of those conditions immensely. So, not every type of pain responds better to opiates than it does to cannabis. Particularly nerve pains (like what I have). In fact, Dr. Ethan Russo's work strongly suggests that migraines may even be caused by what he terms "Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency (CECD)"

Very interesting, thanks for the link.

Bit of both really, lots of stomach/gut pain (have had many surgerys), osteoporosis- weak bones n joints, back pain, breathing problems/chest/heart pain. 'nerve degeneration'
the list goes on, but all this going on at the same time causes me [real actual]depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation etc.
basically housebound, hunched over in pain.

weed just allows me to escape from the pain, like a temporary happiness. watch a bit of tv maybe.. make something to eat.

its getting a real problem for me to keep my weight on, especially since i dont have access to stronger medi weed. im considering moving to amsterdam before i 'progress' too far, but im just too tired now
so tired...

edit: im unable to use any other painkiller because anything opiate based intereferes with gut motility, and INCREASES my pain somehow. other types of painkillers [NSAIDs] are also ineffective. get off the subject of opiate vs cannabis, its irrelevant. two different things

Man, THIS POST takes the cake for being so damn self righteous!

Your government puts up a law that says you cant smoke this plant unless your absolutely dying from some disease, and even then they can still choose to steal it from you or not, and call that legal. Your the one whose keeping the system fucked by agreeing to their unreasonable terms and conditions and abandoning the rest of the MJ smokers, and setting up on your high horse shouting down below "Don't smoke unless these guys with the badge says it's ok, boo hoo, or else they'll take my card away..." Sounds a bit selfish when you simplify it to those terms huh?

It's the equivalent of all of us on a pirate ship, the captian (DEA) says he gets all the food (MJ) for himself and his crew (MJJ patients), while the slaves (non MJJ patients) scrounge for scraps (street MJ), and when we finally find a way onto the captains table, it's you who kicks us back down to the deck because the crooked bastard didn't invite us, and although we still found a way, you block any attempt at obtaining the food (MJ) because it's not...legal.

In a world where governments break the laws they create, where votes are meaningless and the only thing that matters is profits, I pity anyone who thinks these laws created to keep us in line and to keep us from looking outside the box are a good thing.

Wake the fuck up. And one final thought, a RIGHT is not GIVEN, a RIGHT is something you are born with, no politician can give me a RIGHT to smoke weed, fuck that, fuck them, they can only take away my RIGHT to smoke weed.

Anyone have any info on time from dr. appt. - when I would actually be legally able to grow/when I actually recieve the card?

I like where this thread went!!

Also, I would like to add one more thing with the direction this went, the point of 'beating the system' and trying to find ways around the current laws is that I don't believe those laws can be beaten from within the systm, sending letters to senators, calling congressmen... that shit is USELESS, and it will not make a difference, even if you get a million people to do this, guess what, there's 35 million more on the other side of the fence who are still brainwashed by crazy shit like Reefer Madness. I think using this fucked up system is also part of the problem, people content with the idea 'well they gave me a little so I'm happy..'. No. We should be PISSED about that! The fight isn't over till no governmet official has the power to tell me what I can and can't do with my body.

Freedom always provails.

You are legal the minute the Dr. verbally recommends the use, most Dr's will give you a written recommendation before you leave the office, this is more than sufficient to provide you with a legal defense in a CA court.

As to a card?

I guess some Dr's will send you a plastic card in the mail or have a 3rd party do 24/7 verification that might have a card that gets sent to you in the mail but that is case by case.

If you mean the county issued verification cards, those are NOT required by state law, they cost an additional fee over and above what ever your Dr charges. This is a card without your name on it, only your picture and a number on the front and a magnetic strip on the back for the cops to slid through a reader similar to your DL, this contacts the database from the patrol car and comes back either "valid" or "not valid". As long as the cop has no reason to believe you are not the person on the card, you can't be detained or arrested for any MJ related 'possession or use' charges. If you don't have this card the cop can choose to 'take you in' to have the station 'verify with your doctor' if they choose to. This card is sent to you within a few weeks of being approved for the card.
