More than three tons of tightly bundled pot was discovered in a Tucson foothills stash house near River Road and Alvernon Way. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, had their eyes on the house for several days.

Last night, when agents saw a GMC Yukon towing an 18-foot trailer on to the secured property, ICE made its move. It was the biggest seizure in Arizona this entire year. But, the two men behind the wheel escaped from the truck into the desert. Pima County Sheriff's deputies assisted, but were unable to locate the men, even with dogs trailing their scent.

ICE found roughly 5,500 pounds of pot in that trailer hitched to the GMC Yukon. And, they discovered 1,700 more pounds inside the house.

"We did execute a search warrant and we found more than 7,200 pounds of pot and equipment and other evidence indicating this was a large scale professional drug organization," said Vincent Picard, spokesperson for ICE.

The drugs were hidden in dozens of cardboard boxes scattered around the back of the property. Those boxes contained labels that read "Electronic's Cibernetics" (sic) and "Rockwell Industries". KGUN9 "googled" both but nothing came up for the first name. It turns out Rockwell Industries is a metals company based on Long Island, New York.

That's far away from Pastor Donald Graves and Janis Farmer, both members of the Center for Spiritual Living Tucson, a church whose office is next door to the house where the pot was found.

They had no idea what was going on. "I feel stupid and I'm pretty conscious too. I'm aware of what's going around!" the pastor proclaimed.

A property assessor's search shows the home belongs to Gilbert Molina, owner of the Casa Molina restaurants.

We spoke to Mr. Molina by telephone and he told us he got the news about the seizure from ICE early Tuesday morning.

He rented the house to a Mexican national through a property management company.

It was probably 5 years old dusty brown mexican weed. Nobody should have to smoke that crap.

Tons of grade A chronic bud? Shit. That would suck.

Reminds of the days when the fishing boats would come up to the coast of Florida haulin' 20 tons of weed from Colombia. The Coast Guard couldn't do a thing about 'em as the old 12 mile limit was still valid then. They'd sit out there at anchor w/ wild ass longhairs in blown out speedboats coming out to off load that could outrun anything the CG had.

If the CG got close to catching them, they'd dump the load and beat it back outside the limit.

I had cousin's who lived in the Sarasota area. They'd take their lil' Boston Whaler out a day or so after hearing about a big chase on their scanner, looking for the trashbag wrapped bales, aka, the "Great Black Grouper" bobbing on the surface or washed up on sandbars. A couple three times a year they'd get lucky and come home with a 60 pound bale

I'm still amazed they didn't get shot or thrown in jail..

I'm a "Square Grouper" fisherman from Fl myself & know for a fact, back then very few boats could outrun a HH 52a helo and definitely not its radio.
