To trim or not to trim

Some of the smaller, older, bottom leaves are resting on the soil. Is it necessary to clip these off? If so, where would I clip from? Thanks!

you tell me. Are they still green? If they're still green then your plants are still using them to make energy. Cutting them off will result in a slight stunt of growth, and maybe even two new growing tips, making your plant bushier. You indoors or out?

The plant is indoors under 250w HPS lamp. The leaves are still green, however I thought I had read a long time ago that it is unhealthy if any leaves are touching the soil. Possibly could lead to a fungus contamination?

i would not trim them unless (A) your going for some lollipop technique or (B) the plants start to die and get crispy

if you see fungus, feel free to cut that off, but i have never heard this. its my opinion that leafs touch the soil every day, and dont always get fungus

you could contact mold from the soil, are the leaves drooping into the soil? have you over or uner watered her causeing her to wilt? you could also cut of an inch of each leave tip so they were no longer touching the soil, but you retain most of the leaf
