To Nute or Not?

This is another question I'm getting a little mixed reviews about...

When should I start nutes (Flora Series) with my seedlings if I am going hydro?

In my journal many are telling me not to nute until a month old, but I'm not sure if everybody is taking into account I'm using hydro...? Because the argument for some is the soil has enough nutes for the seedlings... well, RW doesn't, correct?

However, I also read a lot that says hydro needs nutes soon on to replace the soil, and to give nutes once you see the first set of leaves...??

I did nute early on, and did see a burn (maybe strong mix my first time?) and am thinking about coming back..

Help?

As soon as my seeds showed sprouts I put them in my bubbleponics.
I mixed 1/4 strength solution of Hydrofarm Grow for Hydroponics (all I had at the time)
a week down the road my General Hydroponics Nutrients arrived. I started there Feeding schedule. My plants are doing fine.

I use nutes from the time my seed sprouts leafs. I use around 500ppm when they are very tiny, work up to 800 ppm around week 2 then after that im full nutes (1800ppm).

It might be the unconventional way but i have never gotten nute burn or bad bud. So bah to the nay-sayers!

Oh yea, i see you said "maybe strong mix my first time?". I guess that means you dont have a TDS meter and are guessing your nutes strength?... Bad idea... drop the coin and get a meter!

yeah right now I'm just going based of measurments (syringe). But the first was a small dosage so I may not have measured it as accuratly (no 1/2ml mark)

This first grow I'm slowly adding to my supplies, so the meters on the list...

ph and ppm meters should be next to lightbulbs on your list when it comes to hydro.... In other words, its a semi-must have for a successful grow.

Just like Beer420 did, I began feeding when the first set of leaves were visible. 1/4 strength the first time and 1/2 the next time I did a flush.

Yah meters are cheap man
you can get a non water proof meter PH for like $15
and a non water proof TDS meter for $20
both on ebay
