To flush or not to flush?

Some nutrients its ok to flush with, and others will defiantely leave a harsh or even a chemical taste. all depends on what you use

If you are still doubting the flush do a side by side. I guarantee you wil never flush for two weeks again! The people who say it tastes like shit are not drying and curing it properly, if you give it a proper drying and curing it will taste like gold! Too many people on here just read something then preach it like it is gospel, be careful where you take advice from.

agreed.
before i had some experience i had used a 30-10-10 right up to harvest first time i grew.. i gotta tell ya, that was an awesome first crop. no flush. what i cant understand is how they came out so good when i was running such a large amount of nitrogen.. does the plant only use the amount of nitrogen it needs and ignore the rest????
i am on my 3rd go around now and i am going back to that amount this time. so far so good.

Why would I want to starve my plants in the last two weeks, when that is when they pack on the majority of their weight? I use to flush, waste of time. Now I never flush been doing this for a while.

well that settles it then, def not flushing.

my next grow is a pick and mix selection so i will wait till grow number 3 to try a flushing experiment, only to see how much people are missing out on by flushing.

when that day comes i will be screaming it from rooftops lol

Just make sure you do the experiment to the same strain or everyone will be pissy because it isn't "scientific" enough. The reason your buds on the non-flushed plant are twice as big is because it is a higher producing strain they will scream, I can see it already. Good luck and keep us posted!

i'm tellin you, that crackling is spider mites or other tiny bugs going pop. take apart the next crackly stuff u get and have a real close look. you'll see em
No, that crackling was because there were seeds in the bud, when there is a strand of hair it's almost more a fizz than a crackle. I do not have mites or bugs and never have (touch wood :D)

And make sure they are cuttings from the same plant not just the same strain.

Why would u not want to flush? It doesnt take any of the potentcy away from the plant! I was reading that u want to flush at least the very last week and i found this product by humboldt nutrients called royal flush! A quality crop needs an effective flush to reach its full potential. Flushing removes heavy elements and salts, allowing for more aromatic and flavorful fruits and flowers. Humboldt Nutrients Royal Flush supercharges the flushing process, binding together undesirable salts and heavy minerals. Royal Flush then strips these larger particles out of your plant, leaving behind sugars and strong flavors. Your plant is composed of water, sugars and salts. If you flush out the salts and dry out the water, you're left with delicious and aromatic sugars, and sugars rule the natural world. It only 9 buckd for a 16 oz bottle that will surely last u a few grow seasons!
I'm not saying this product does not work, but after reading your post three or four times,
especially the last line. I must ask if you copied your post from the Royal Flush salesmens handbook?

hahahaha i thought he worked for the bloody company.

i wonder how much money is spent on flushing products....u think the ppl making these things aren't coming up with the biggest load of whatever it takes to sell u stuff? they want ur money caliburner and they'll capitalise on any myth they can to get u to part with your hard earned cash.

Tip top you have much more experience than i do probably, however i dont think there were seeds in the bud i was smoking that crackled. I used a grinder and didnt notice any unless they were tiny tiny ones. No way it was hair as the whole bowl ocntinued to crackle/spark until it was cashed.

Ah, i was just commenting on my experience with crackling, not others. Although it might be that there were a bunch of pre-mature seeds in the bud that, i've had them from time to time. Could be the sugars as Ryder of the Storm states in his post.

Either way i don't flush and don't experience it :)

*WTF is flushing.. never heard of it :P
Haha exactly! I've heard people argue well if Ur not suppose to flush then why does everyone make flushing solution?
Well retards in our free market there's such things as marketing and sales and well if you find people are buying let's say Piss in a bottle for some reason or another why wouldn't you label it and tell people they need it?!

This is exactly what I mean when I say be careful who you take advice from, you haven't even finished your first grow and you are giving people advice on harvesting. At least 50% of the research I did when I started out turned out to be bullshit! I prefer to grow based on my experience and the experience of some of the great growers we have here on rollitup.

I'm on the side of water only the last 2 weeks but not flushing. I've read it puts stress on your plant if you full out flush it.

i have done a side by side with two clones from the same plant. they were fed with fox farm nutrients tiger bloom and big bloom and the soluble tripack. there was a discernible difference in the two. thee one which was not flushed crackled and tasted like shit the other one was much smoother and had a better taste. this is my experience. now i use gh as a base and still flush in the last two weeks. if you feed with a salt based nutrient base, you will have salt buildup in your soil. if you give just plain water in the last two weeks, there is enough fertilizer still in the soil to be utilized by the plant in the last few weeks. i can see this when i check the ppms and ph of the runoff after watering with ro water. everyone's grow style is different and you must do things accordingly. what works for others may work for you and what works for you may work for others. whatever you choose to do, do it because it gives you the best end results.
