Tincture purity

Hey Guys,

I just reduced my tincture and strained it with a cheese cloth. I am going to strain it again with some micron bags as well. My question is..Is the tincture supposed to be clear or have some stuff in it. For example, when everything settles at the bottom of the jar there is what looks like sand. Is this tricomes or just plant matter from me grinding the bud? I also added some dry ice hash so it could be some of that too. Should I leave this or keep straining it out?

Sorry I meant to say clear of debris. Like is it supposed to be just liquid. But I think once I strain it again it will get it out. thanks

Cool thanks, Guys. The only thing I am worried about is my liquid is a greenish color not amber. I used about 10 grams of medium grade bud that I ground up in my grinder and then put in 1.25 cups of everclear and shook it everyday for 14 days. I just reduced it to 1/4 cup last night so I figure after I strain it completely I will store it for a month or so before trying it.

Do you guys think I should reduce more or is 1/4 cup good for 10 grams?

Thats because you let it sit. green = chlorophyll.... Which is good in some tinctures (http://www.energiseforlife.com/wordpress/2009/02/11/health-benefits-of-liquid-chlorophyll/) chlorophyll is actualy a very good health product, it is one of the reason people make tinctures.

Canabinols + Chlorophyll + Alchohol (Regulated..) = a health drink, used to cleanse the body of many things (from heavy metals, to minor infections).

I was going to get a dropper bottle or two and store it in there. How many drops to you guys think would be good for the amount I used?

Well first off.... why would you wait a month before you tried it? its done when its strained, bottled and cooled....

Personaly, i would never render it down like that..... thats a complete waste of EC..... on top of it, there is not real way to guage the dosage.... just do some and see what happens, itss all you can realy do...

When i make a tincture, i use a Quart jar. grind up 1 OZ of mid grade into the jar (Hash and all... the more the better), add 28 FL OZ of ever clear. Cap it, store it in a warm place. shake it every day for 10 days.... Strain it, store it in the freezer.

the way i do it 1 shot (1 FL OZ) = 1 gram..... get fucked....

This is the first time I have tried to make a tincture and all the videos and posts I found on how to do it all said the longer you let it sit the more potent it gets. So, if that is wrong then I am happier since I really do not want to wait that long to try it...lol

I rendered it down so It would be more potent in smaller dosages so I could take a few drops or a whole dropper full rather then a have to drink it. If that makes sense.

the " sand" on the bottom is resin glands...peace
Um no actually, its not. Alcohol breaks down Biomass, AKA Alcohol breaks down the resin glands.

the "Sand" on the bottom is usually sand, and dirt, and dust, and Pistols off the plant. none of which get you high.

Making a tincture is no different than making ISO extractions of oil. the Clearer the better. Amber>Green.

Okay, so I strained it out and kept the "sand" in a little jar and when it dried I looked at it under a scope and it looked like kief. Should I put it back in my tincture or leave it out? Also I strained my tincture with a 160 micron bag and there is still "sand" at the bottom. Nowhere near like it was before, but still there's some. I might strain it again to get the rest out.

I should also point out that I added a nice amount of dry ice hash to this as well. Maybe that is what this sand is. Maybe it is some plant matter and resin glands mixed... I dont know. Is it possible some didnt dissolve?

Well then.... i guess i'll let you make the same stupid mistake i did then.....

Dont put it in... if its Keif its good to smoke right? Go try it.... its NOT Keif....

It would have to Saturate the Alcohol for that to happen. and i have NEVER seen alcohol actualy become saturated by anything.... so i would say no, its not possible.

Also I strained my tincture with a 160 micron bag and there is still "sand" at the bottom
160u isn't actualy that small. strain it with a 35U or smaller to strain the dirt out.... Coffee filters are around 40u and seem to work the best......

Thanks a lot, Corbat, I used the coffee filter and it strained everything out. I burnt a little bit of that sand stuff and you are right it def is not kief. It looks like kief under the scope but put to a flame and you can tell right away it is not.

My tincture is black. Is that okay you think? I am hoping it means it is super concentrated since I reduced it. Thanks again

No.... No... No... No... The alcohol dissolves the bulk of active ingredients in 30 to 60 seconds. Soaking it for months doesn't do you any good unless you like the taste of chloryphyl.

First make BHO or QWISO, then cook it to activate and dissolve into alcohol. One dropper, 6 hours of hiding under the bed.
