just noticed this.. what a farce eh (they have a contest to name it.. cause unlike most marijuana this is special and unnamed  )
Name Our Landrace Contest

Tilray’s horticulture team has had the rare privilege of cultivating an exciting new landrace strain, originating from the exotic area around Peshawar, Pakistan.

Unlike many of the medical cannabis strains grown at Tilray, which have long histories and widely recognized names, (White Widow, Jack Herer and Rockstar), this strain has no name yet. In anticipation of its spring arrival, we are looking to you for name suggestions.

The task of naming strains usually falls on its original breeders, who sometimes base the names on those of the parent strains. For example, the strains Harlequin and Jack the Ripper were crossed to produce Pennywise (the killer clown from Stephen King’s It). In other instances, strain names give a nod to their place of origin, such as BC Big Bud and Quebec Gold. There is no limit to the creativity that comes into play when a strain is named.

To give you some inspiration, here’s what we know about this strain:
  • It is a landrace strain
  • It comes from Peshawar, near the famous Khyber Pass in the mountains between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the same region of the world where cannabis is thought to have originated.
  • Its appearance is like that of a sativa strain.
Think you have the perfect name for our strain? Let us know and you could win Tilray accessories valued at $250.
had a good laugh, thought i'd share it.. but it is bloody shady.
like they sent somebody out hunting genetics, and this isn't just going to be their next marketing tactic eh?
..no doubt it will fool a few who don't know much about marijuana *which i guess is likely most people who support LP's :(

 :fire:

I met an LP noob just this morning. He told me all about how LPs are better because they are tested blah blah blah. Get this! He actually told me that if I get cannabis from anyone other than an LP that I'm probably going to die of pesticide poisoning! The problem with legalization is going to be all these noobs coming in and being duped by the LP's into thinking their low grade swag is what Canada is all about. The LPs like Tilray will make "BC Bud" a fucking joke! Who will sue them for brand damages?

I call bullshit. It would take years to stabilize a TRUE land race strain for indoor commercial production. Also, who's word are they taking that it's a pure land race? Any one of us could say the same about anything we have with a very limited group of people able to verify if it was a true land race strain or not. Considering the proliferation of genetics being spread to areas it had not been before in the last 10-12 years, I'd assume it's a hybrid

What the fuck do they even want a name for? I'd be intrigued if it were simply labeled as Pakistani Landrace. It'll probably be some stupid name from some newb like "bomb chronic " or something retarded like that.
